We don't really know 100% what type of meat goes into making any kind of kibble...whether it be high end premium from a specialty store or store bought. Especially if the company does not have their own food processing/ manufacturing plant.

Good example is the whole Diamond pet food fiasco...w/ Blue Buffalo & the recent scandal w/ Evanger's pet food. They tout it's 'human grade' when they recently found pentobarbital in some of their canned food.

Agreed. And if you have elderly or immune compromised people in the household, be extra cautious.

Sadly, this is generally true. The company might have high standards, but sometimes they get a bad supplier. Pentobarbitol might be coming from euthanized horses. Probably not in a large enough quantity to harm the dog, but it's a sign of sloppy ingredient sourcing. I'm glad that regulatory agencies are testing for things like this. We need more of this (testing).

I honestly didn't even think about parasites just bacteria.

In our old neighborhood I was tempted to sit outside with poo bags and say hey need a poo bag for that I have some! It was awful. Unless you have an low immune system then you might not be fine.

Evangers has an FDA warning out against them for years. The meat in the prescription food I feed is man made so I feel pretty good about it. I don't know what I will do when I don't have Callie anymore although I hate to think about not having her. Joey will only eat kibble I'm not joking he will eat a few bites of chicken and some veggies and fruit but he prefers the kibble. Penny will eat any and everything lol. It was so funny with Penny because after her spay and baby teeth being pulled they recommended wet food fo a few days and I thought it was a good way to spoil her a bit. Well when I went to get it I bought several different kinds because Callie was very picky and after her surgerys I tried a million different kinda and she didn't eat much and with Joey I tried a million different puppy foods when we got him but he wanted Callie's dry food so I wasn't sure how Penny was going to be. She loved all of them and ate them all well and no tummy issues. She is a tank lol.

I was wondering if it had come from euthanized animals.

They might be required-but few do very little beyond the cursory courses. Chewie's vet for instance, she didn't HAVE to continue to take courses that made her surgeries amazing. Nor did the man that I'm speaking of have to do what he did, because no one else did in that clinic. Not as much as he does.

I don't know that that is true my instructor talked to me about some of the continuing ed things she goes to and the ones that the vets at her practice go to. Just because he was very informed more so then other people in that clinic dosent mean others don't do the same thing in other clinics. Most vets will choose continuing ed in things that interest them unless for some reason they wait until the last minute.
