The only thing would be to use it in the homemade cocktail to keep the paws soft and not dry out in the winter. :) | I'm not a dermatologist or a vet, but I can attest to how organic coconut oil has helped both the dogs and the humans in my home when used topically. We've used it on minor skin problems/scrapes with great success. It heals my elderly dad's hand scrapes faster than Neosporin and appears to help prevent scarring. Helps pimples heal faster than any acne medicine I've tried -- and I've tried them all.
Before coconut oil, I used olive oil which was good. When Max was a puppy, he developed a little bump on top of his head. The vet wanted to remove it when he was neutered. I dabbed olive oil on it and the bump disappeared in 3 days. Probably just a sebaceous cyst, which he has had a few of over the years.
I also use coconut oil on the boys' gums and teeth and I believe it makes a difference.
That said, I would never use it in their ears. We had our first ear infection here recently and I took 7 year old Teddy to the vet and got ear drops. Save |
