roundworm? She has these white grains of rice looking stuff in her poop. Are they supposed to move? If this IS what she has, well, then, her bouts of runny poop (like soft serve yogurt they call it each time) constipation, vomit, tiredness, etc. Even between her eating bad things are explained. I held off on the nexgaurd while all these meds were given to her. I just noticed quite a bit of them in her poop tonight- and she doesn't eat rice. Are they dead when they come out? They didn't move and definitely aw some. She's been hanging out with three little dogs and my hubby's friends home. One was rescued not too long ago, and one came from her son's home, and who knows if he's been treated. long winded, just don't know much about this. |
Could be tape worm. Segments of a tape worm break off and can be seen in the dogs poop, they look like rice. Tapeworms are usually caused by pup ingesting a flea. I would take a sample of that poop to your vet. |
Most likely tapeworm....ew, I know! |
Sounds like tapeworm! It comes out in segments that can keep moving like individual worms. They look like rice when dry. Max had one once. Save a stool sample to take to your vet ASAP. Here is the thread about Max: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...tapeworms.html |
Thanks, every one! Thanks for the thread, too, Kristin- that was kind of my reaction last night. Daughter said Mom, chewie pooped.. (and she hadn't for three days, either. So earlier that day when I called the vet, I came out to see poop and a nervous looking chewie looking up at me like, is this good??? and laughing a LOT) and yes, daughter was laughing because of earlier that day. Any way, yeah I Picked it up and daughter found me staring in disgust, and then freaked out when I said, I want to see if these move. Good times. I saved the sample and put it in the fridge, since well, that's what they told me to do a few months ago when she was having those bouts of throwing up. I never thought I'd see myself examining POOP of all things. |
