OK. we feed Maddie and Tucker Ceasers. They get one can a day (each). There is also dry food left out for them, but very rarely do they actually take it. When we got Maddie, she ate dry dog food. We found out that they don't sell that brand up here in Jersey...and we couldn't order it off of the internet either. After trying just about everything, and her not eating much for nearly a week, we started giving her Ceasers. and she eats it. She doesn't have bad teeth nor is she over weight. As long as she's actually EATING something, I'm happy. And Tucker kind of grew out of the dry food. We used to feed him Royal Canine. then switched to iams (which is what we leave out for them now) because he started having some problems with Royal Canine. He doesn't like the Iams at all. Like I said, as long as they're actually EATING and getting excercise, I think they'll be fine. Neither of them has had a problem with eating it. I'll feed them whatever it takes if it'll keep them from dying of starvation. |
I agree with your Vet. Cesars is bad! I actually bought my Coco ceasars and of course she loves it, but as soon as I read the ingredients I returned all 25 items of Cesar Canin Cuisine back to Petsmart! Now I am struggling to get her to eat. I have Iams, Nature's Recipe, Eukanuba, Innova, Natural Choice out for her to chose, but she will not eat any of them. I heard that you can starve your dog for a week and they are not going to starve to death. So I will be sticking to my decision not to feed her Cesars. It breaks my heart but I have to be firm. I hope you get yours to eat something different. |
I just wanted to say that I know it is the BEST thing for them to eat but I really can't see it hurting them that much. Diesel LOVED it but he got sick and threw up once and I wasn't sure what caused it. I switched just in case. Well low and behold he has thrown up at least once since being on the new food. However, when I switched his hard dogfood things have been much better. Also my grandmother had 2 dogs that lived to be 13 and one 14. She ALWAYS fed them Mighty Dog food. May not have been the best food but they did alright on it. |
Cesars Entrees Ingredients Identification 1 Attachment(s) Everything in Red is Bad __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _____________ Here are the ingredients in CESARS ENTREE PUPPY: INGREDIENTS: Sufficient water for processing, beef by-products, meat by-products, poultry by-products, liver, chicken, beef, calcium carbonate, sodium tripolyphosphate, potassium chloride, carrageenan, dried yam, caramel coloring, xanthan gum, natural flavors, salt, erythorbic acid, dl-methionine, guar gum, zinc sulfate, biotin, vitamin A, D3 and E suppliments, sodium nitrate, D-calcium pantothenate, thiamine mononitrate, copper sulfate, potassium iodine. The first 4 main ingredients are BY PRODUCTS. By products: Everything that is left behind after all the meat has been removed for human consumption. By products are ground slaughtered meat carcass parts such as necks, feet, undeveloped eggs, bones, heads, beaks, and intestines (and a small amount of feathers in the case of chicken meat). In many cases, by-product meals are derived from "4-D" meat sources -- defined as food animals that have been rejected for human consumption because they were presented to the meat packing plant as "Dead, Dying, Diseased or Disabled." Meat by-products are commonly found in lower-grade pet foods and even many of the larger name brands, including Science Diet (even their prescription diet product line), Purina (both Purina One and Purina Pro Plan), and Iams / Eukanuba. Ingredients listed as "meat, beef, chicken, and/or poultry by-products" on pet food labels are not required to include actual meat, and "rendered meat" on labels can refer to any rendered mammal meat, including dogs and cats. Those brands are huge on Marketing and thats why you get convinced into buying them. A new category of pet food typically marketed as holistic, wellness, organic, ultra healthy, and/or simply premium pet food often emphasizes the use of human-grade meat sources only, with no animal meat by-products of any kind. Examples of such pet foods include Blue Buffalo, Flint River Ranch, Life's Abundance, Nutro Ultra Holistic, Pet Promise, Timberwolf Organicsand Evanger's. The fact that it says non specific by products such as poultry and meat instead of chicken is even worse. By products are just fillers and contain no nutritional value. Sodium tripolyphosphate: Is a chemical that is used to retain moisture to increase the sale weight. It is hazardous. Neurotoxicant. __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _____________ CESAR is all about Marketing. Make the food look luxurious....create a rich look with the "Maggie" dog and the beautiful girl that owns her... You think well, it looks so good...Their logo is "Devoted to small dogs". Theyre all about making money they dont give a crap about small dogs. If they did...Every single one of their food wouldn't contain BY PRODUCTS. Something that Humans dont eat. I think CESARS is worse than the equivalent of McDonalds. At least McDonalds is actually made with Human grade meats. You love your dog. After you've read this do you ACTUALLY want to feed this to your baby? If you answer yes then I dont care if I hurt your feelings or not...So SHAME ON YOU |

You're defending that feeding your dog by-product meals that are derived from "4-D" meat sources -- defined as food animals that have been rejected for human consumption because they were presented to the meat packing plant as "Dead, Dying, Diseased or Disabled.........Sodium tripolyphosphate: Is a chemical that is used to retain moisture to increase the sale weight. It is hazardous. Neurotoxicant.........All that is ok?? Id like to see you eat that yourself. You make a lot of sense? |
Just WOW!!!! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but dont berate someone because they feed Cesars. Dogs that are outside dogs and run loose consume much worse in their lifetime. |
my girls are rotating between raw, canidae canned food, canidae kibbles. i don't want them to just eat one kind everyday so i rotate them and the are doing really well. i wouldn't fee RC or cesar. imo anyway! My girls really like RAW and especially raw advantage chicken dinner. or i go to my local gourmet butcher that sells organic rabbit or chicken raw food. they love their raw! |

Owners that keeps dog outside all the time shouldn't have dogs in the first place. Some people are just too stubborn and can't admit that they feed their dog pure crap..suck it up. There are other brands of good quality wet food you can use....Research Quote:

Sodium tripolyphosphate is used in various applications such as a preservative for seafood, meats, poultry and pet foods. It is also used in toothpaste and as a builder in soaps and detergents, improving their cleansing ability. The United States Food and Drug Administration lists STPP as "generally recognized as safe", along with salt, vinegar, and baking powder. Unfortunately, for consumers an excessive amount of STPP in food can cause an increase in price, for products sold by weight contain more water than products without STPP |

Wow its "generally recognized as safe".....I guess that means its completely fine. Even though its used in a lot of dishwashing detergents and a variety or household cleaners. So now you've found one small ingredient in CESARS that I have said is harmful and you have defined as "safe" CESARS is ok to eat. Even though the majority of its contents are slaughtered meat carcass parts such as necks, feet, undeveloped eggs, bones, heads, and intestines (and a small amount of feathers in the case of chicken meat). You can pat yourself on the back now. |
