I was feeding Cesars until I read about it on here. My baby doesn't really like the dry food. I give her eggs, cheese, carrots and she loves raw spinach. I guess I have spoiled her for dry but if I don't put something with the dry she won't eat it. She will go for three days without eating- I have tried it. Now I am giving her Nutro naturalist wet- she doesn't really like it- not junk food like Cesars.
ps- her dry food is Nutro organic

Royal Canin for Yorkies is allegedly formulated by nutritionists but I don't think they know Yorkies either. The protein level is way to high even for puppies. That is very hard on the kidneys/liver as high protein is hard to digest and the waste products in the form of ammonias from the break down of amino acids is hard on kidney/liver. Again, you may not see a problem right away but with time you likely will.
People on high protein fad diets are warned or should be, to drink a lot of water. the reason is to reduce the concentration of the toxins of the byproducts of digestion and flush them more efficiently.

Lorraine- what do you recommend for dry and wet foods? my Yorkie won't eat Royal Canin either.

i've been feeding my puppy iams dry food with a scoop of ceasers wet food every meal? should i be stopping this or is that ok?

I have used Royal Canin and Bil-Jac for years.... Both brands I use the puppy food , ALL my adults, teens and babies eat this....the babies if needed supplimenting further get the little cesar puppy minor amount mixed into their dry food NEVER JUST WET! If your dogs are not active, locked in a kennel, left seditary as a couch potato, then perhaps the levels would be too high.

I Have NO Rotten teeth, NONE are overweight, NO runny stools (Bil-jac has a stool hardener), NO chronic ear infections (never one for that matter) , NO tear stains, NONE of the WORKS you speak of.

The dogs I speak of eat a package of cesars each for 2x per day. they're 15lbs & 13lbs and their bellies scrape the floor. they get 1/4 cup of RC total per day mixed among the cesars. they're my mom's friend's yorkies. I am not knocking RC in my post. Just cesars. I think it's disgusting and my mom's friend won't listen to me. her dogs are OBVIOUSLY suffering from her misinformation/apathy

since I got my little four year old gal the other day, a few people have advised taking her off the puppy food. She has been given Ceser's puppy food with half an egg twice a day all of her life for her coat. Does she still need the puppy food for any reason at her age unless she's pregnant? If you read my post thoroughy you would have read that i feed my two Yorkie's a half of Lil Ceasars every morning AND THAT'S ALL THE LIL CEASARS THEY GET THAT DAY. The rest they eat is Royal Canin which is left down in a bowl for them to pick at throughout the day. Both my dogs have normal stool and neither of them are over weight. Just because your friend doesn't care or look after her dogs properly doesn't mean the rest of us don't. My dogs go for walks a few times a day, and they ENJOY their meals.

I'll make sure I never share my experiences again!

If there is no controversy over other better wet foods, why do people insist on feeding byproducts? (That question is for everyone, not just one person)

I would try separating them in different rooms for their feedings and because your one is a slower eater i would maybe try and put her on a feeding schedule so you don't have to leave her food down all the time and it getting eatin up by your other Yorkie.
Maybe if she's on the feeding schedule she will learn that that's her time to eat.

It could be due to the Ceasar's only, but that's the only food I'm really talking about here. I'm sure a diff wet food w/ RC would be a much better alternative. I think people only buy Ceasar's because it's easily accessed at grocery stores and it's cheap.
CHEAP!?!?! I don't consider a 3.5 oz tin of wet food costing 85 cents a tin cheap!! I have been feeding mine Cesar's for years and have had NO, I repeat NO problems with it. The only time there is any kind of problem, is when whichever store I buy it from is out of the turkey dinner!! I have been feeding the same as Athina is feeding for 6 years, and I don't even know her!!!

I feed it to my yorkies because they are both extremely picky eaters and they eat it well. I have tried other moist foods and they wouldnt eat it. They eat the hard but not well and that is why I also give the Moist. Like Athina I only give my dogs one tin to split a day and Me and my vet think that is fine.
