Is there a tiny kibble that doesn't contain chicken? We are fostering a tiny little male (4 lb) who has just been "sprung" from an Amish puppy mill. He had to have all of his teeth extracted about 10 days ago. Despite this, he still prefers kibble to soft food. I suppose because that is what he is accustomed to. The vet who neutered him and did his dental work recommended Nutro "small breed adult" formula. He likes it, and readily eats it. The only problem is that my Yorkie, Wendell, has a chicken allergy, which causes diarrhea and vomiting. I give my dog a combination of dry and canned "Taste of the Wild" Pacific Stream formula. The foster dog is interested in it, but the kibble is just too big for his little mouth. He takes a piece, carries it around and then drops it. I feed them separately, and can continue that practice, but in the interest of making my morning routine a little easier, I have a question. Does anyone know of a kibble that is the same size as the Nutro Small Breed Adult, but that does not contain any chicken? |
You could put the kibble in a Baggie and pound it into a smaller size. |
Check out Healthy Extension Little Bites....you can get it on Chewy.com now...it is TINY...the size of a BB, maybe a tiny bit larger....there have been a couple of people that I recommended this food to, who's babies did not enjoy eating this....but the majority of people I have talked to say their dogs really enjoy it. I have 3 people here in Houston that I sell it to....I used to have to ship in down from New York....Chewy.com now carries it! Check it out.....they will send you samples from the company, to see if your pup likes it before you spring for an entire bag. I have no idea about the size of Nutro.... |
Look at Solid Gold Wee Bits - Bison and Brown Rice with Pearled Barley. I think the company will send you samples so you can try it first. |
I use acana but the kibbles are big. You might try soaking them in water first. |

I found a variety of "Natural Balance Small Breed" food at a local pet food store. It's based on lamb and brown rice. The foster dog will eat it, but doesn't like it as well as the Nutro. But my Yorkie that is allergic to chicken likes it, so it won't go to waste. |
dog My spud is on special science diet zd. The kibble is to big so I bought a chopper and chop those bits into little pieces. Works great |

dog yes that is exactly what I use. You can only put a little kibble in at a time but it works great. Grinds it up into smaller pieces. Hope you can get one. |
Fromm lamb and lentil is tiny |

Fromm will never be sold in the big box stores as they are a family owned business and only sell to other family owned business, except for places like Chewy.com so people can get it that don't have a local business in their area. |
solid gold has wee bit and it is bison |
I was able to get the Solid Gold Wee Bites, and it is the perfect size! He seems to like it, too. He's not a big eater, but then again he's such a tiny little thing that I don't suppose he can hold much at a time. I offer him food twice a day, morning and evening. What is the recommended portion size per day for a 4 lb Yorkie? |
