Hi. I was the one who posted about Solid Gold Wee Bits. Both my Yorkie and my Biewer are 4-lbs. I have never gone by what the bag tells us to do. I always free feed my dogs. I use small plates and put 1/2 cup on each plate. There are no food aggression issues, but I tried so many different dog bowls that I swear I have service for 12! Neither dog would eat out of the bowl, so I put down small plastic plates and wha-la - success. The plates don't hold much so I use two. The dogs eat out of whatever dish they feel like, but neither dog has ever finished the 1/2 cup in one day. I haven't read anything negative about Solid Gold. I was using another brand that my pups also liked but could only be bought on-line. To save shipping costs I was ordering the 18-lb bags. Took forever for them to finish it and I swear it was stale by the time it was used up. I mentioned it to my vet and she said to try Solid Gold. Have been using it for a year with no issues. Perfect size for perfect dogs :D |
Fromm is excellent, but check the ingredients, since most formulas have chicken cartilage as an ingredient if you need to be completely chicken-free. Natures Logic is an excellent food also that uses no synthetic vitamins. Their kibble is very tiny, and it is 100% natural. Nature's Logic - From Nature's Logic website FAQ: Note: We have had a number of calls for a diet that contains no chicken protein due to their pets being sensitive to chicken protein. For these customers we recommend our beef, duck & salmon, lamb, rabbit, sardine and venison kibble formulas which contain no chicken proteins. |

So far, with help from this thread, I've found 4 different brands of tiny kibble. He will try them, but only a few pieces. Then when I give him the Nutro Chicken, he gobbles it up. <sigh> So do I play the waiting game with the non-chicken brands, in the assumption that when he gets really hungry he will eat it? He's a foster dog from an Amish puppy mill, so I can't imagine he ever got to choose what he wanted to eat before. But maybe he is just accustomed to chicken. |

I use a blender to make the kibble into a very tiny size that my little ones wont choke on. I do the whole bag at one time & put in Tupperware in the freezer - then it's all done and ready when needed |
I've been feeding Now Fresh Grain Free Small Breed and my boys love it and do great on it. There isn't any chicken in it, and the kibbles are tiny little x's. NOW FRESH Grain Free Small Breed Adult Recipe | Petcurean |
I use Fromms Whitefish and potatoe it is small kibble and no chicken. My yorkie is very allergic to chicken. |
