way to many meds? Max has a yeast skin infection. the vet prescribed, ketoconazole , prednisone, hydroxyzine and cefodoxime. I will give him the antibiotic, but the others are for itch and allergies. Any advise ?????....plz...? |
Follow the vets direction. Im sure he has a reason for them. Do you not trust this vet? It might take all these to get over his problem. |

That does seem like a lot of meds at once. Skin yeast infections tend to be itchy and can be connected to allergies. Is Max not scratching? Are his skin problems widespread? I hope that by tomorrow some of the members here who have been through skin issues with their pupsters will have some specific advice for you. |

Info about Max, I adopted him from SPCA Houston, He is 6 yrs old and weighs 8 lb. I moved to Spring TX and changed vets. This is his second yeast infection. |
Changed his science food to Wellness white fish and sweet potato. I am guilty of once in a while giving him ham, cheese, fries from Mc.Donald....I promised to the Vet to stop doing this....LOL Ni]o, I don't know if he has seasonal allergies....:/ |
PLEASE - give him the meds...they are all there for a different reason. The Keto is anti-fungal and the Cefo is an antibiotic (anti-bacterial). The other 2 are for itching and the allergic response - PLEASE give them ALL. The vet is right on this one...they are trying to manage infections, while giving relief at the same time. |
Thanks.... Yes, Max is taking ALL his meds.....I just noticed that today he did not want to take his daily walk Probably the meds make him a little lazy ...:) |
