Sugar was just into the vet for a check up. We saw a new to us vet. She is in the practice but not our vet. She was AMAZED at the condition of Sugar's teeth. She looked at her chart twice. She said "this is an almost 9 year old dog who had periodontal disease?" I managed to basically "reverse" the periodontal disease and regain healthy gum tissue by brushing every day with sonicare. It worked wonders for my 2 girls. It's not possible to really reverse the disease but she said her mouth looks 100% healthy now with no receding or bleeding or puffy gums. She asked if she had recently had a dental and it has been two years! |

One of my girls has horrible teeth and due to financial problems right now I can't afford to have her teeth cleaned (they est from $500-$900). I have brushed them without any improvement and the vet said it is mostly genetic. I just saw an ad for Trudog Spray Me that is suppose to really help with dental plaque and tarter. It has Grapeseed Extract, Grapefruit Extract, Peppermint Oil, Rosemary Oil, Thyme Oil and Neem Oil. Has anyone tried this or know anything about these ingredients? |
My vet recommends Leba III. It can't be used with any other dental products, but you can brush teeth with just water. I had yearly dentals on my Yorkies in the past. Katie had her first dental this summer, and she is six years old. I believe genetics plays a role. When my last little girl could no longer have dentals due to her heart, my vet recommended that I give her raw chicken wings. He said the muscle in the chicken wings would keep her teeth polished. I couldn't bring myself to do it, though, because I was too afraid. |
Raw chicken I don't blame you, I couldn't either no matter who told me to do it. |

My vet said that bird bones were harmful because they had air inside and when cracked form a pointy edge which can perfurate our babies. He recommended pig or cow ribs instead, since they were spongy bones. Most of the time Tequila can't finish eating a whole bone (pig rib) and turns it into a toy. |
