| ![]() Hello all. It's been forever since i've been on ![]() This past weekend (Thursday) Daisy was in the hospital because of pancreatitis. My fault since she turned 10, i got her a birthday cake and apparently that set it off....i feel horrible!! Her normal diet has been Science Diet R/D (weight reduction). Before this cake ordeal she's been doing really well on it, she's lost weight and her lipase level came down to where they should be..so the food is doing it's job. The vet put Daisy on Prescription Hill's I/D for a few days. She's been doing great so far on it. A girl I work with used to be a Pet Nutritionist and she has recommended Wellness Small Breed Complete Health Healthy Weight Turkey & Brown Rice. Has anyone had an experience with Wellness and/or with Wellness and pancreatitis?

YT Addict | ![]() I had Tink on the Wellness Turkey & Brown Rice, but she kept having recurring Pancreatitis issues. I would stay with the advice with Hill's I/D, that is what Tink is on, and as long as she doesn't get ahold of soemthing she's not supposed to, she has had no issues. Don't feel bad for giving him cake for his b-day - you were just being a good owner and trying to make him happy. It's difficult when we want to give them all the yummy treats they can't have... |

| ![]() I had an experience wellness. It caused my dog to get pancreatitis twice! I would stick with the food you used for 10 years before you fed the cake. My dog Daisy had an acute elderly onset pancreatitis. It lasted for two days and she resumed her normal life afterward. Her #s were off the chart. Meanwhile my other dog has had to be severely fat restricted for the last five years. It's scary and can be life threatening so it's not worth it. Best wishes..

| ![]() Thank you for the advice!! ![]() She went in last Thursday and was supposed to be hospitalized until Saturday, but my fiancé (who took her) refused to let her stay since someone isnt with her at night. So he had to sign a release and they gave her a fluid bubble, we started meds on Friday (antibiotics and antacid). Today is her first day with no meds and she's still eating a 1/4 can of the wet I/D until we go back for a 7 day checkup on Friday. I just want her to be happy and healthy so I will do whatever I need to. I just wasn’t sure what to do food wise knowing if I asked my vet about Wellness; they'd talk it down (most likely) to stick with the Science Diet/Prescription Hills food.
