:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: For Bella, I found that it didn't matter whether I left the water down until bedtime, or took it up one hour before bedtime. She still had to get up once in the night to pee, and she still does as an adult. I decided it was easier (and probably healthier for her) to leave the water down until bedtime. She has never had any peeing accidents either.

Yup I don't free feed. I can help potty train them easier. I feed 3x a day. Moki is healthy as can be but he will over eat..just because thats his personality. My girls eat till they are full then stop.

I called my vet on this just to see what their .02 was and he said based on her weight I should free feed until at least 4-6wks has passed and I go back for her rabies, he declined to do it since she was so small and underweight. At that time if she's put on some weight, he said it would be time to give her more structure with feeding to ease housebreaking some. So it seems everyone was basically all correct in the information.

I use to free feed... It got to the point where I use to refer to mine as the four porky Yorkies. They all loved to eat but I put a stop to that about 4 yrs ago. Their weight was just out of control. My gal Brandi who has passed now was a big girl 20lbs at her heaviest and than my two senior pups were in the 17 lb range. Than ruby would eat and know when to stop but she was still to heavy in my opinion. It was just way unhealthy for them so we had to make a change.

We are on two feedings a day, water all day and nothing after 8pm. They all lost weight and have maintained if for 3 yrs. now.

:thumbup: I had a dog that wouldn't eat but nibble. He was free fed. But the only dog also. each is different. But I find the hungry ones to be healthier..As long its the norm for them
