| P*L*E*A*S*E* Help Yorkie Hair Loss My T-Bonez is about 10 months old, he is a very healthy & happy doggie, always energetic & I have never had a problem with him. But it seems as he has grown his hair on his hind legs and back has not. He has a thick silky coat in the front of his body but a thin coat on his back, and his hind legs look as if they have been buzzed. I really did not take much notice of it untill my family started commenting on his hair cut, but I have never taken him for one, I have checked his skin & all looks fine?? I don't know what to do!!!!! |

| same here Well my little yorkie, Baby, is 10 months old as well and her hair on her back and legs is not growing like her beautiful hair on her head and neck. I asked the vet and they said to be patient. I don't understand either...and if anyone knows an anwser to why this is happening i would love to know. |

| By chance do his legs look like this: http://www.yorkietalk.com/gallery/data/500/224dec.jpg Up close: http://www.yorkietalk.com/gallery/data/500/224hair.jpg This is my dog back in Dec. I went through the same thing. I didn't really notice he was "missing" hair until others mentioned it. It appeared as if someone had buzzed his hind legs when in fact no one had touched him. We never took him to the vet b/c he showed no distress and had no change in personality or activity. In the past month or so I've noticed the hair is definitely growing, so Im not too concerned anymore. Here he is a few weeks ago; I shaved him so that his hair matched his legs and he looks great now!! http://www.yorkietalk.com/gallery/da...224pic0033.JPG I hope this sheds some light on your situation, but no matter what keep an eye on your dog to make sure there is nothing seriously wrong. Good Luck!!

| That's what my T-Bonez is starting to look like! Thanks much for the help, I am hearing that if there is no rash or irritation then it's nothing to be too concerned about. He is really always happy, he is not itching or anything like that. He looks like a little lion . I am trying to get a picture of him up but my little rascal runs every time he sees the camera come out. He has brought me nothing but joy, I always tell everyone that he is the only man I'll need in my life!! |

| Thank you for the pictures and info! I have never had my yorkies do this...........The hair has been uneven in growth but I havent seen that before.........No dry skin noted or anything? It almost looks like psoriasis because of the large area involved. One of my dogs hair was growing very patchy and I thought about taking her in because I thought she had thyroid problems, or she wasnt utilizing her nutrients properly, or her dogfood wasnt doing the trick but she acted fine, so I waited and now her hair is full...............Im a big worry wart! |

| Here is my origional thread about hair loss . When I shaved him it looked like he had a bug bite on his upper hindleg, but never noticed him scratching or biting ferociously. He wasn't bald b/c there was very thin hair, but it was super silky compared to the rest of his coat. After he was shaved the rest of him was silky like his legs and the hair is showing some growth so all is well with Ranger. Glad I could help, but really if you notice anything don't hesitate to get it investigated by a vet!!

| Im really not sure of his weight at this moment. He hasn't been to the vet since he was 3 months and then he weighed 4 lbs. I would guess him to be about 5-7 lbs.

| My puppy too is lossing hair! My puppy (Christy) 3 1/2 months has started losing her hair on the front part of her front legs and the back part of her back legs and her tail. My vet has not idea what it is, but the hair loss is getting worse in the last week. |

| Hair lost I guess I'm real worried that this is going to continue, I'm not sure what to do, she is so cute now, but with no hair Does your pup have any silver coming in yet, mine does not. I'm afraid to give her a bath (and she stinks) because I don't want her to lose any more hair. My breeder got her from Poland, so I don't know if thats what happens over there. I'm so confused! | I never noticed that Ranger had the silky silver hair coming in until I shaved away the puppy coat. But if the legs are bald or balding then I would go to the vet and get a professional opinion.
