hahaha! I know about dentists! I've been a dental assistant for 15 years! I really am hung up on the stars. I want "the best" for him. And word of mouth at pet food stores they all say Orijen is the best too. I was thinking on trying Wellness Core or Fromm again. |

Since I'm not a dog food nutritionist either, I have to rely on those ratings and other people's opinions as well. Still looking! Currently, Wellness Core for our 10 lbs youngster and Wellness complete health toy senior for our lil ole guy. Our lil ole guy is eating the larger kibbled Core that we leave down for the larger/younger guy so I intend on switching to a smaller kibbled Fromm grain free for when the old guy eats the younger/larger dog's food. Quite a bit of Core to go before we make the switch. It's a work in progress though. |
I just gave him Fromm Gold for small breeds. The kibble is soooo tiny! He loved it! Ate it all so quick. Can't really transition since he won't eat his Orijen so later should be interesting. |

At about $2-$3 a pound, that's not a bad price at all! It seems with those ingredients for that price, it's a very good value when compared to so many other brands and their formulas. I'm glad to hear it's tiny kibble as well. Fromm Gold Small Breed Adult Dry Dog Food, 5-lb bag |
chester done well on sundancer from solid gold grain free, good food |
He still loves his food and eats it quick. But I'm noticing he's smelling sweet. Especially his paws. Yeast? It isn't grain free. All the other foods I've fed him were. He really likes the size of the kibble. The grain free Fromm doesn't come in the tiny kibble. |
My dogs are currently eating Canidae Pure and really seem to like it and all 4 are doing well on it. I think they like the Pure Sky best (so far). It is duck based. I have also used the lamb one a couple times and just bought a bag of the bison one. I get it at Petco. Just another grain free option you can try if interested. |
He is doing awesome on the Fromm! I'm going to buy a grain free one today. His poop is more than half of what it was! Not to be gross..... it was like 7-8 inches on the Orijen. Now it's like 3 inches. Does that mean he's just absorbing a lot more nutrients? It's a huge difference! I didn't change the amount- 1/3 cup twice a day. |
Update..... As of about 4 days ago he stopped eating his Fromm. He won't go near it now. And just about a half hour ago he threw up stomach bile. I'm cooking him rice in his rice cooker right now. I'm temped to go back to Blue Buffalo Freedom b/c it's like the only food he almost eats everyday. But I know what people say about it. What should I do????? |
I would say feed him what he likes and does well on. If that is Blue Buffalo, then so be it. There are a lot of complaints about Blue, but a lot of people swear by it and their dogs do very well on it. I don't feed Blue, but 2 of my sons feed Blue Wilderness to their dogs and they really like it. |
