As for anyone defending me, I don't need that at. all. I have survived a long time being who I am. I don't sneak around .. I say it like it is. Period. If a person is harming an animal, I will not turn my head or bury it in the sand. That's just me and who I am.
As for the comments about gossip....we all know about YT gossip. :) |
Thank you Linda, my point is I don't like to tell others how to post, including you, and yes, you don't need anyone to defend you, but I was getting a lot of PM's and honestly, it took over a year before I said anything to you about it, I didn't want to offend you ether. People were really hurt and that was hard for me, I tried to explain what I thought was your perspective, so that they wouldn't take your replies so personally. The fact that so many people, including me, admire you and your work with rescue, puts more responsibility on your shoulders, whether you like it or not. If you were hated by all, it wouldn't really matter how you post. I wouldn't have said any of this publically, but I feel the need to defend myself, since you brought it up.
Can you possibly put yourself in my position? I don't think you really understand the betrayal I felt when RC changed the ingredients without any notification. I love these two dogs, as much as anything and want to do what's absolutely best for them. I mean I’ll settle on a good healthy diet, it doesn’t have to be the best in the world, but it has to be what I’d call good using what I believe to be quality ingredients. I have literally studied nutrition for 54 years, starting with an 8th grade experiment, where the teacher made me take three rats and feed them three types of diets. Nutrition is indeed a complex field, and a company has every right to make as much profit as the can. I'm not saying that these new ingredients will kill your dog, but when a member posted the new ingredients I about flipped, and yes, I felt like the company had betrayed me. There was no warning; don't you understand why this could upset someone who chose the diet
for the ingredients? It was a horrible feeling, I wondered how long I had been feeding this, as it is what I believe to be substandard food, I have no idea when the food actually changed, and that gives me no confidence in the company. So yes, I feel like they cheated on me. You may not agree with me, since reading the ingredients is not your thing, but surely, you can understand if it is a person’s thing, why a person would be upset. I do think I can read a list of ingredients and get a small picture of how nutritious something is, I do it with recipes all the time, if I don't know a lot about a certain ingredient, I can research it from more than one source, and I look for independent sources.
I disagree that I think a marketing representative, from a company is going to give us good information. She’s not going to tell us any cons in the product, it’s only one side of information only, and her job is to reassure, reassure reassure. Unfortunately, many of the members don't know enough about nutrition to understand why the answers are rubbish, but when asked why the change from chicken meal to chicken-by product meal and the answer is something like “we make a lot of dog food and can’t get enough chicken meal and chicken by-products are just as expensive, at least the gizzards are," and people are satisfied and they think that is a good informative answer, well, I just don’t know what to say. How anyone can think that's a good answer is beyond me.
