I think a pair of old nylons pulled over the nails make them protrude threw holding their hair back. |
I would take him to a groomer if he wiggles a lot. When Joels nails were tiny I just used the human clippers, he never moved though. |
Jumping in late here. Yes, I trim Tatiana's nails myself. She doesn't like it, but I found a way to relax her. She enjoys me brushing her coat and feet, so I would brush her and trim her nails at the same time. Whenever she is brushed, she relaxes. That's when I would trim a couple of nails. When she pulls away, I would brush her again, she would relax, and I would trim a couple of nails again. Oftentimes, I would also trim her coat. So basically, Tatiana is getting a full-service grooming -- haircut, brush out, and nail trim! It's like a spa day for her. :) |
I do it myself, Four Paws, Safety Pet Nail Clipper, with safety guard is super easy. It has a depth stopper for the nail so it is easy to use. |
I saw that Teddy had one little nail that was extremely long and would have probably grown into his paw if I didn't catch it on time. He wiggled so much it was very hard to do by myself. He definitely made me nervous, after that I feel like it would be safer to bring him to my groomer to have his nails cut for now. |

But boy, don't these terriers grow hardy toenails for their tiny toes! |
