| Susan Thixtons(Author of Truth about pet food) food List~ I was visiting "the truth about pet food" yesterday and I see that Susan Thixton as compiled a list of 20 pet foods that she would feed her pet. Of course, because of her research, she can't really endorse a brand of food so instead she says she's compiled a list of foods she feels that are safe to feed her own pets. She charges for the list and I am sure this is one of the ways she funds her research. I am wondering if anyone has bought the list and if so, do you think it was worth buying. I am fairly curious as to what she thinks are acceptable foods to feed as that seems to be the million dollar question for all of us pet owners. This is the first time I've really looked around her site, although I was aware it was there...after running a search on Wellness, the food I currently feed, I am not so sure I want to continue feeding it. I was not aware that they were sued for faulty advertising in 2009 and that they use meat by-products...especially since they claim to use high quality human grade ingedients. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I just looked all over her site and couldn't find a link for "The List" - where is it on her site? How much is it?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Argh, finally found it after entering some search words...looks like you can donate different amounts to get it, the lowest being $10: TruthaboutPetFood If you read the reviews of the list on the page, it looks like she must recommend Natures Logic very highly, as well as Acana and Bravo (this is all public info on the page, I'm not revealing anything). I always forget about Natures Logic since so few feed it here, but those who do truly love it. WoogieMan use to feed it and he absolutely loved it for his kiddos; he did a ton of research about it too.

| I've seen the list and honestly, I don't think I would spend money for the "content." There are some familiar brands that have been mentioned on YT that are highly recommended however a lot of the foods selected, I have never heard of and/or could not find locally (although I would order online, convenience and accessibility are important factors for me). Much of this information provided for various brands you can find through your own research online, through the company websites, or directly contacting the companies. There's not a single miracle/perfect food or a "secret" food that she mentions or recommends. No surprises With all of that being said, if you enjoy reading Susan Thixton's articles on TruthAboutPetFood, it would be a good way to show support and help fund her website by purchasing the list. Although you could do it yourself, it is very time consuming to contact so many different companies, complete all of that research and gather the information to be compiled in one place. Aside from the list, I know that she has brought various topics/issues in the world of pet food to my attention that I had never even thought about before....definitely enjoy her website. |

| I personally would not spend the money on it. If you want to truly know what's best I would talk to a vet nutritionist.

| if you research yourself you can find a lot of info on your own as most companies list the ingredients on the packaging and on their websites, you can study and choose which ones you prefer. The less ingredients and additives the better, beets, peas, grains, rice, potatoes, are carbs which dogs don't need and can lead to tartar, just a tip |

| Carbs don't lead to tartar. I have a friend who feeds raw and the dogs have tartar. I think quality food matters but I would likely disagree with mostly everything that woman has to say. I would not spend my $ on her layperson list when I can talk to my vet nutritionist who has actually been to some of these companies.
