| ![]() So suddenly today Athena ( 9 weeks old as of yesterday) has diarrhea, she vomited a little bit one, doesnt want to eat an is acting tired. she will get up an act happy to see someone, but she doesnt want to play and just wants to lay in her bad and sleep. I tried f=giving her a little pumpkin, but she wont eat it. Nor will she eat her food, without the pumpkin. I fed her water with a dropper as well as gave her a little nutri-cal. Normally she would eagerly lick the nutri-cal up off my finger, but today I ha to rub it on her gums. she didnt take it on her own. I have not changed anything in her diet. I have been transitioning her from canned to dry food, but shes been eating both kinds of foo for two weeks now. The only thing I can think of that is any different then what we normally do for her is that I put a little ab of Preparation H on her booty yesterday. she did have her vaccinations last Tuesday. But can she start having a reaction to shots 5/6 days later? I tried calling my vet, but they are closed on sunday. EDITED to add she was tested for worms an it came back clean for her last tuesday. |

| ![]() I would watch her very closely because it could end up being parvo or something equally s dangerous. Small breed dogs especially puppies can go down hill fast. Do you have a er vet number just in case she gets worse and can't wait until tomorrow for the regular vet?

| ![]() I will keep you posted. I know I worry about parvo. I havnt let her outside at all, nor around other dogs other then my own. but that is something that can be brought in on shoes or anything. I wish I didnt have to wait until 2:00. I want to rush her there now. but the vets are all at lunch. |

| ![]() Always better to be safe than sorry. She is still so young and little, all sorts of things can cause an upset, and the serious things can accelerate so quickly. I'm curious, what was the reason for Preparation H? I haven't heard of using that on a pup before? Hope she recovers quickly.

| ![]() ok so just got back from the vet. They tested her for parvo, and it came back negative THANK GOD. I cried when they took her back to test her for that. they also tested her stole, they didnt find anything. He did an abdominal exam, shes not showing any signs of pain an he doesnt feel any kin of obstruction. Basically, they dont know what is wrong with her. they shaid it could be the treat we gave her last night. we have never given her actual dog treats before, just kibble. Or she ould also have a bacterial infection. Just to be safe he put her on some antibiotics for a bacterial infection, and vitamin drops. He also gave her a prescription dog food to give her. said not to fee her until tonight, but give her water or pedyaltie ( spelling). If she keeps vomiting, gets worse , or doesnt improve in a day or two, im to take her back in. he said if she keeps vomiting especially. they may have to do xrays on her so if that keeps up today and tonight I am to take her in tomorrow. So thats they update..... im so relieved its not parvo, but hate not knowing whats making her sick an am worried if it doesnt get better or gets worse. |

Yesterday she pooed and it got stuck half way in and half way out. I guess because of her hair. I have trimmed her as best I can. but apparently its not goo enough. im going to ahve to take her into the groomer I guess for that once she is feeling better. ANYWAY...I had to soak her bottom in warm water to get the poo loosed. Afterword her little bottom was irritated however and she was uncomfortable. I had seen many post here on YT for breeders and other yorkie owners mention putting just a dab of preparation H on there anus to help relieve that discomfort. So I tried it. I made sure the vet knew about taht and he doesnt seem to think it is a concern being it was on her anus. but like TxVicki said, possibly she could have licked it. that would cause tummy upset im sure. I also have to ad however that the vet also didnt even know what Preparation H was. I had to tell him it was hemorrhoid medicine. So this leaves me a bit concerned. He is from india, perhaps they dont have preparation H there? I dont know. But when I told him it was hemorrhoid medicine he was like oh ok, no thats fine.
