Natural Holistic Foods..a recomendation If anyone is looking for good quality foods I highly recommend this place. We used to feed our previous dog and cat Iams brand food, ever since we got Fozzy we switched to Natural foods and wow what a difference (I'll be honest the only measurable comparison is the cat, our previous dog was hit by a car). But when compared to our previous dog a Westie, Fozzy rarely gets sick, which is a blessing especially when you consider his size and the amount of freedom we give him. I'm in no way trying to advertise or push holistic-propaganda; I'm just tossing out some options to members of this board. We swear by this place and the people here are very good nice too. Which food do you feed your Yorkie? My Yorkie doesn't seem to like the taste of alot of the Holistic foods out there.... |
Back to Basics (Chicken or Pork) :aimeeyork |
Totally confused. Corn is the second ingredient in Back to Basics food...everything I have read says avoid corn.... |
True, Corn is a low source of nutrient grains. Rice is a much better source for nutrient grains for dogs. I know that my Fozzy get's a good amount nutrient grains from the rice we feed him. We give Fozzy boiled rice and chicken as treats on a frequent basis (multiple times a week). I've never heard of corn being bad for Yorkies/dogs just not the best source.... Hope that helps. |
corn sometimes is associated with allergies in dogs also chicken. Corn is just a low grade of grain nutrients and by-products is another no no. |
This link helped me a lot when choosing my Yorkie her food....if everyone has time and needs help with choosing a food you should definately read this....http://www.volhard.com/holistic/artbywv.htm |
yea i feed hershey solid gold holistic food and he seems to hate it.. he only eats it when he gets realy hungry. |
archie loved neura and wouldn't eat anything else. he hated wellness because of the texture. well, we went through two huge cases of neura lamb and by the end, he stopped eating it. so, i decided that I was just going to try once more to feed him the wellness (we had two cases left over), and i mixed it in with dry chicken soup for the pupply lovers soul (sample pack I picked up for $1.99!) and he finished all his food! he used to never eat wellness. archie eats when he's really hungry, too. yorkies are picky eaters. he'll be playing and happen to pass by the food bowl, take one quick bite and go on because he's actually on a mission to catch his ball or something. What I learned...they do need variety, but it's better to be consistent with one food for about 2 cases, then switch to another food and go through another two cases, but not to switch foods everynight or you'll end up with a picky yorkie like mine who is a food snob. |
Great link GracieGirl. Thanks! |
Yeah, great link. For me, this really reinforces that I'm doing the right thing. Thanks again! |

why dont someone just make a perfect puppy food so we dont have to stress over what to feed our puppies?!?! |
I had my dog on Wellness, but he didn't like it. I think the shape bothered him. I switched him to Azmira and he loves it!! Licks the bowl clean! Here's the website, not widely available, but I think they'll ship: www.azmira.com -amy |
