| bump with black circle Hey guys Callie has had a bump on her head and its was just a skin colored bump for a while then it got a little scab on it (I guess she scratched it) then it stated to heal and got a little flaky but got a black circle around it. My mom told me it was just dry blood but I have used a wet cloth on it and if its dry blood its not coming off and it has been there for about a week. I thought I would see if it would go away but its not. I tried to take a picture of it. She goes to get groomed Thursday and that is at the vets office so I think I am gonna ask the vet to look at it while she is there. Does anyone know why there would be a black circle around the bump and why?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Could just be a little follicular cyst. Ringworm can cause a circle around its infected area, but it's hard to say if it's that. In dogs, ringworm doesn't always form a circle - it can sometimes just look like a patchy/hairless area. Glad you're getting it looked at.

| IDThink it's ringworm bc it has a raised bump...& it would be extremely itchy for them. Hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Pixie has one just like. It started out as a little bump. I tried to mess with it and it formed a scab. I put some neosporin on it. Pixie goes in to the vet tomorrow for some other health issues and I will ask her about it. I will let you know what she says.

| I don't think its ring worm she hasn't messed with it in a week or so sense it got the scab but it seems weird and worries me a bit so I will be happy when its Thursday so the vet can look at it.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Marcel caught ringworm from his vet when he was a puppy and he had no itching at all or irritation -- just a patchy, discolored area w/ a little bump in the middle.

| I did some research and looked at lots of pictures and I don't think it's ring worm.

| Gracie has a bump with the black circle on her leg. Only noticed it because she was licking it one night. The vet said she was not worried about it but if it got larger to bring her back in. My vet mentioned warts and just growths older dogs sometime have. Gracie just turned 7 this past August. That's been a couple of weeks ago and it has not grown.

She had another one on the top of her foot. They took a sample and said they wouldn't remove it unless it was malignant bc not much skin on the top of the foot to stitch back up. Well after a few months it started turning black. Very similar to your pic now. First around the edges, then the whole thing turned black. Then after probably close to a year, I went to check on it and it just went and fell off! There was no scar, no blood, nothing! And I check her bumps probably daily if not a few times daily. It was so weird.

| Thank you for posting the video link! Ziva gets these cysts also. If she is at the vet for any other reason he will" pick" it out- if it is already been there and is "hard" he will leave it alone and note to keep an eye on it. Some resolve on their own like a pimple. She has such a fine wavy soft hair that I thought they might be caused by an ingrown hair situation. |
