I woke up this morning and saw my little Reyna shaking. I also noticed bright red on her hair near her bottom. My father ran to me and told me she has bloody stool. Not sure how to approach this. I read a lot on this and it's not like she's never had blood stool before.. it just has never been this bright. Some people said it could be parvo, while others say not to worry about it.. what should I do? Monitor it before running off to the vet? Put her on a strict bland diet? I actually haven't seen her stool yet this morning. Some advice for a worried mommy would be nice.

Blood is not normal so she needs to go to the vet as soon as you can.

Shaking = pain, and blood is not good. I'd go to the vet.

I would pack her up and bring a stool sample with you to the vet

Get that baby to the vet, it may be nothing serious but not something I would take a chance on myself.

A vet asap. Cali is prone to bloody stools occasionally but twice had HGE. Had I not taken her to the er vet she would have died.

So I took my little one to the vet and she went through some tests as it kind of confused the vet as well. It came down to pancreatitis. She has some meds and the vet said she may have a few more bloody stools but in about 2 weeks she should be fine (I hope!). Has anyone else dealt with pancreatitis? This is actually the first time I have ever dealt with it. Some info or some input would be very cheerful.

So glad you took her to the vet.... Pancreatitis can also be deadly! Can be brought on by indiscriminant eating, although it can be different for each dog. Peek used to come down with it whenever DH fed him too much cheese. Husbands are hard to train. In others, certain types of food may set it off, usually rich or fatty foods. Try to figure out if something set it off in your dog, and plan accordingly. It is common in the breed.

There are a lot of people here w/ yorkies who have pancreatitis. Most of them are on special diets - did the vet go over diets with you?
