Itchy Skin We rescued an adult yorkie 2 months ago. He had a skin infection which was treated by injection, and now we are giving him weekly baths with medicated shampoo per our vets instructions. He is still so itchy - spends so much time scratching himself. I have heard that dry skin is common with this breed. Will go back to the vet . . . we feed him Royal Canin for Yorkies. |
dog Take him off rc and get a venison base food. It worked for my poodle a derm vet prescribed it after i spent bucks on dry skin stuff. Get a shampoo like hy lyte for dry skin. |
Where is he itching and is he also chewing/licking his paws? |
:aimeeyork Thanks for all the great info - so helpful! He is mostly trying to scratch his back and sides, but is also chewing on his front feet a bit. I put his thundervest on last night and he slept all night without itching. Will looking into a food change this weekend. |
Itchy skin I'll try that also. We just rescued and adult male, 8-9 yrs old 2 mths ago. He just started scratching a week ago. I can't find any bugs on him. So I also bought special shampoo to try and cure dry skin. Still scratching. I didn't think about his food. |
