| Baby food? Back story: After her teeth extractions, she became constipated but started to go after a few days. I had to switch her food to prescription CD canned food due to the crystals in her urine. Now that she is regularly going poo again, she seems to be going a lot. 4-5 times during the night and a few times during the day. I talked to my vet and he said as long as it is not runny... but this morning... it was runny. all 3 times in the span of 10 minutes. He suggested gerber but I have been doing research for a few hours on baby food and need some instructions. It seems Beech Nut is better because of the ingredients, but how much do I feed Sachi? She is 9 months, just reached 2 lbs. I used to give her 1/4 cup a day of dry food until the doctor put her on CD canned food. She has not had solid food since because of her diet. I am thinking of giving her the hard and canned CD just for texture.

| What is causing her diarrhea? I’m confused why the Vet would want you to put her on baby food? You can feed her any brand, however I always pick the Organic. Stay away from any flavor that has onion or garlic. Usually the meat type carry those ingredients. I personally always pick the fruit or veggie’s. Squash, bananas, peas, carrots, and the organic is “ banana and water” it doesn't have any of the added ingredients the regular non organic brands have.

| Some dogs get runny stool after the anesthesia...but Hill's c/d canned is also high in fat. Momo had to eat that for his struvite crystals & his poopie was inconsistent. Was it struvites? Then all you need to do is liquefy their diet. Make sure she's drinking a lot of water, it will help dissolve the struvites. I moisten Momo's kibble w/warm water to make it soft, he stopped chewing his food, so giving it to him this way also helps. I also give him premade raw for another meal & it has brought down his urine pH level where it should be, @ 6 which is the norm for dogs. When he had struvites, his pH was 8.

| Hmm well I personally wouldn't add anything extra if she is having tummy trouble. Instead of the baby food maybe you can add a little pumpkin in her food? Pumpkin helps with diarrhea and constipation. This will be the pumpkin in the can, the natural kind not the pie filler. Maybe just add a little, I wouldn't over do it. If she is having tummy trouble she should be on a limited diet until that has cleared up- adding too many things can make it worse.

i am not sure about the ph and never heard of struvite so i dont think she has that? she had crystals and thats when the vet changed her to the cd formula. i am hoping the baby food will help and introduce back the canned food until i can get another test done. she stopped with the frequent urination so I am happy. at this time the vet suggests i give her nothing but the canned c/d... i sometimes give her the dried food version to trick her into thinking she is getting snacks.

| Well the baby food isn't going to do anything for her.. so I wouldn't give her the baby food. I would personally give her some canned pumpkin. I would mix maybe a 1/2 tablespoon in when you feed her.

| the vet thinks she is having diarrhea because of the new canned food. would the pumpkin with the same canned food still be upsetting to her? before i changed her, she was on blue buffalo for 5 months.

| The pumpkin helps with diarrhea and constipation. The baby food isn't going to help with anything. If anything it may add to her upset stomach. How long has she been on this canned food and how long does she have to stay on it?

She has to be on the Science Diet because of her crystals correct? How long has she had the crystals? Like Jenny said if she has the struvites crystals then you should be able to add more liquid in her diet.. and that should clear them up. Like it did with Jenny’s Momo. Can you find out what crystals she has? If her body isn't accepting the Science Diet then you should talk to your Vet. He should be able to give you a different brand or something. She can’t keep having diarrhea. She eventually will get dehydrated. Please make sure she is drinking a lot of water.
