Mia is 9 months old and just went into heat for the first time, just curious what to expect, how long does it last? How often do they go into heat? Any advise would be greatly appreciated! I plan to have her fixed, when should I do it? Wait till her cycle is over? Sorry so many questions!

I got mine all fixed about this age. I don't know the answer to the rest but I will say do not let her out of your sight and do not allow any intact males in your home!

There are three stages of a females heat cycle that can last for up to 3.5 weeks. You really want to be careful about having her around any intact males unless you want to end up with puppies.

Every female is different when it comes to how often they come into heat. it can range from every 6-9 months.

I'm not sure what the process is with spays being done with a female in heat. Not sure if you would have to wait until she is done. Mine were done out of heat. I'm sure your vet could tell you more about that.
