BB has a puppy version of the life protection formula for small breed puppies. Blue Buffalo - All Natural Small Breed Dog Food I had Rhett and Scarlett on it as puppies and they did beautifully on it. They transitioned to the adult version without any problems. Rhett has a very sensitive tummy and its one of the few foods he can tolerate. If you are going to make a change in formulas just do it slowly and you should be fine. |

Blue Buffalo Life Protection Dry Dog Food | Review and Rating If you have an adult formula, I would think that you could easily switch to a puppy formula with no problems. BTW, dogfoodadvisor gives Blue Buffalo Life Protection a four star rating, which is above average. |

We have had 2 yorkies and a beagle on various lines of Blue Buffalo (Life Protection, Wilderness, Basics) and all of them have done very well. I think this is one of the better choices at larger pet stores although it's kind of expensive (IMO) compared to other premium foods we've fed. |
Thanks to everyone who took the time to post their replies! I've decided to go ahead and get the puppy formula :) Hopefully she'll like it! |
I've been feeding my yorkie blue buffalo since she was a puppy (she will be 2 in november :). I had her on puppy formula and then switched over to small breed adult. I had researched a bunch of good dog foods and decided on blue buffalo. She seemed to be doing good with that until recently. I believe they changed their formula because I noticed the bag looked different but didn't think much of it. Lately she has been throwing up yellow foam and has been very itchy. I couldn't figure out what was wrong, I thought maybe she developed a food allergy. I started googling blue buffalo and came across a lot of complaints on consumeraffairs.com. I saw some other reviews saying their dog has been throwing up yellow foam as well. Needless to say, I will not be feeding her blue buffalo anymore! I would just be very cautious and be aware of any changes in your dog! |
