Raw feeders, I have a question... Is there supposed to be blood in the raw food? Is it ok, I mean I never read about the bloody part & it's kinda grossing me out. I'm giving them OC Rawdog Rabbit for dinner only & they absolutely LOVE it & are doing fantastic on it. They've had Nature's Variety, Primal & other premade raw food & I never noticed blood in them? The place I got it from ordered the wrong size for me, I wanted the big package of medallions, but got me the smaller tub instead. I had to defrost the whole tub & section them into plastic baggies & refreeze them. It has what looks like bloody juices...when it's defrosted again.:confuse8: loll |
Vital Essentials is kinda of bloody too and I didn't care for it...I think the less "processed" the more bloody the food is..I think it's kinda gross too but Izzy didn't seem to mind it... But I couldn't get passed the blood so we went back to Primal raw :) |
I feed Vital Essentials too. And yes, it does tend to be bloodier than other premade raw. Blood is fine. |
Ok, so the bloody juices are ok...but still yucky! Next time, I think I'll order the patties, much easier. Thank you! |
Hmm I want to try the duck. I have always been so intrigued by Raw, but never tried it on Peanut. |
Jenny: Are you still feeding the CC? |

50% protein 44% fat 6% carbs. Those percentages vary a little depending on who you're talking to. A kibble-based diet is 18-32% protein 8-22% fat 47-74% carbs. Dogs eating a raw diet don't have the 47-74% of carbs to burn to use for energy. They use fat for energy instead. That's why the fat content of raw a raw diet is so high. Some premade raw contains fruit, veggies & other carb sources. So you shouldn't see such a high fat percentage in food with those ingredients. |
Anyone feeding Nature's Variety be aware that the rabbit comes from China. That is the only one that isn't raised in the US or New Zealand. I won't feed anything that comes from China. |
This sounds very interesting. I really don't know anything about this raw food. Where do you find this food? I would like to try it. I have an overweight chihuahua, the raw food sounds like it would be good for him. It's been very hard to slim him down. He will cry and cry when I give him less food, he is hungry. |
Petco does not carry raw. You can go online and google nature's variety and put in your zip code and a local store will shown. Once you are at the store you will see the different brands of raw food that they carry. |
I know Mika's raw cat food will occasionally have blood in it. She loves it so who am I to judge. She eats it all within 5 min. |
