Ahh ok!! Cool. Sounds like you have it figured out. Wow The OC Raw looks amazing!! I might have to try that.
I could def use one to substitute a dinner for Peanut!! | OC Raw Dog does have a small 8oz container to try as a sample. If you get that, you'll want to section them into plastic baggies & refreeze them. Take out 1 baggy to thaw in the fridge. Nature's Variety also has smaller trial size bags. I esp like their organic chicken formula. Quote:

A raw diet is based on a dog's natural ancestral diet which is
50% protein
44% fat
6% carbs.
Those percentages vary a little depending on who you're talking to.
A kibble-based diet is
18-32% protein
8-22% fat
47-74% carbs.
Dogs eating a raw diet don't have the 47-74% of carbs to burn to use for energy. They use fat for energy instead. That's why the fat content of raw a raw diet is so high. Some premade raw contains fruit, veggies & other carb sources. So you shouldn't see such a high fat percentage in food with those ingredients. |
Teresa, Thank you so much! I understand now.:D Quote:

This sounds very interesting. I really don't know anything about this raw food.
Where do you find this food? I would like to try it. I have an overweight chihuahua, the raw food sounds like it would be good for him. It's been very hard to slim him down. He will cry and cry when I give him less food, he is hungry. | Poor baby & poor you too! It breaks my heart when Momo cries for more food:( (he's such a widdle piggy loll!) so I split his meals into 3, which means everybody has to be the same. Maybe you can try moistening his kibble w/hot water? I do this for Momo bc he no longer chews his food. This fills him up bc there's water in it. He gets moistened kibble for breakfast & luch & gets premade raw for dinner.
Just FYI, some dogs act like they're starving when eating raw. I think it has to do w/the fact that it's so easily digestible. It's recommended only to feed them 2-3% of their body weight. You should calculate by the ideal weight your Chi should be. |
