My vet always catheterizes my females to get good sterile samples.....no waiting for her to pee,and accurate cultures can be done. I hope your vet is not charging you extra boarding fees while they wile away the days, waiting to catch her peeing!

Good news she finally went pee for them and it is only a UTI.. vet said I must be in tune to my dogs, (my husband says overly in tune lol) and yes it is a UTI, good news is it wasn't too bad yet, but she is dehydrated so they are giving a little more fluids with her anti-biotic. The vet said, she wanted to go for walks they thing, because she went immediately for them after they took for a short walk lol.

So glad to see Ginger just has an UTI!! She will be feeling better in no time! Hopefully she is able to get home and start getting her TLC!

Ginger seems to be a bit better but very clingy. She is happy because the vet gave her special treats and soft food for a few days. The vet said it may have been caused from some dog food or treats I gave her. I never knew UTI's can be caused from diet.. so now I need to do better research so I don't go through this again :(

Poor Ginger, she has had a hard week. I know some dogs/ cat's are more prone in getting them. We had a cat, Cheetah she would always get them. She was on special food.. the whole 9 yards.

I know as a preventative you can give Ginger Cranberry Extract.

Cranberry Relief for bladder infections in dogs and cats, Urinary Tract Disorders

There are a ton of different types out there.. Maybe talk with your Vet to see if that is something you can do. It probably wouldn't hurt.

Sending prayers for Ginger.. hopefully she is feeling better soon..

It is funny how you mentioned the cranberry extract, because that is what she is on right now with her anti-biotic. The vet didn't know if she would take it without hiding it in food, but she loves it. In fact she thinks it is a treat, but is upset she only gets it once a day. She is still really cuddly but is not having to pee so much thankfully. Thank you for all your well wishes :wavey:

LOL!! Is she drinking enough water? I read it's so important for them to good a good water intake having UTI.. or even preventing them.

She drinks lots of water but is sleeping a lot too. She has gone from cat like behavior (she is usually independent, wont sit by you unless she wants to, would rather lay on a dog bed then sit on the couch by me), now she has to be right by me, held, etc. We have decided on Monday to run in another urine sample to make sure she is for sure over it.

Well that’s good to hear, that sounds like a good plan. Hopefully when this is all over she is back to her independent self.
