| Green Beans I've noticed that several of you mention giving your yorkie green beans for snacks or even with their food. I also noticed that frozen was mentioned. My question is this. Why frozen? Do you literally take them from the freezer and give them to your furbutts? If you are one of those that give them as a treat, do you give them straight out of the can??? Just curious because I thought I might try giving them to Coco as maybe a treat and see how she reacts to them. I was told that human food gave her diahrea and so I have not given her people food but the green beans sound like something that maybe I will be willing to try. Thanks |

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Mine liked the frozen better than fresh. The canned ones can be high in sodium. I take them right from the freezer and cut them in to small pieces and feed like a treat. The dogs know the bag and come running when they see it!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Yeah, the frozen ones have a better texture than canned and no salt. The are slightly cooked, so they are still easy to digest compared to raw. I thaw mine in the microwave and rinse in cool water, or you can just let them soak in hot water for a minute. Some dogs like them frozen, but not Joey. New foods can give a dog diarrhea, it's not because they are human foods. In the wild, animals eat very little of something the first time they try it, next time they have a larger amount, you should duplicate this, the first time just give one green bean, if all goes well, next time give two. My Ralphie didn't do well with the green beans, until I dehydrated the in the oven, but he can eat them without any tummy distress. I think the dehydration makes them a little easier to digest.

| My dogs love green beans, but any more then 3-4 and Ziva will throw up bile the next day. It was hard to pin down but definetely when she has "too many". The others have no problem with many more. We use steamed fresh or frozen. |

| We haven't tried giving them "frozen" green beans, have only been giving them "thawed". Interesting, we may just have to try that. They really do love them.

| My 4 all love frozen green beans. It's like little healthy popsicles for kids I get big bags of organic petite frozen green beans at Costco that I love (cooked for me), and a handy, healthy treat for the furgirls. The of my pups also love lettuce, especially the crunchy rib part of romaine.

| I rotate green beans, peas, carrots & peas and mixed veggies for my little ones. They are frozen and I put them in the micro for 40 secs. They are still cool but not cold.

| I give mine frozen (right out of the freezer) green beans - the long ones. They like chewing on them. That's the only reason I give them frozen. They also LOVE frozen peas. My finicky one gobbles those up. And their extra special treat is celery sticks - not frozen. They go nuts over those!!

| I only use fresh string beans, although I sometimes freeze them if I buy a lot. Ian loves them right out of the fridge or freezer.
