So sorry to hear about your pain. I hope you get some relief. I am glad to hear Peanut's problem turned out to be minor with just being clogged oil glands. |
Just coming to life after that dog show and seeing this....So happy that Peanut is ok. Sorry about your back...hope you get some relief from the pain. I have chronic back issues and it is not fun. |
So glad that Peanut is ok. I've never heard of the oil glands thing, all of my pups have several similar bumps that I was told were caused from clogged sweat glands. I wonder if they are the same thing. Maybe I need to start grooming them more often too. |
I'm happy to hear that the bump is nothing more than a clogged pore. Is this the same as a sebaceous cyst? I think Max had one of those when he was a pup. I put a tiny dab of organic olive oil on it and it went away in 3 days. More recently, Max had a blackhead on his shoulder. I squeezed the junk out of it and cleaned it with rubbing alcohol. Hasn't come back. Praying your back feels better soon. |

Isn't so strange how they get so many things like humans? Ahh poor Max- how in the world did you notice it with all that hair? |

I check my hairy beasts' skin daily. It's not as hard as you would think. Is it strange that they get pimples and blackheads. |

Which do you prefer ? |
I'm glad it was nothing too serious for Peanut. Please take care of yourself and don't over do it. |

Dawn - Marcel gets multiple bumps too. We had one biopsied and were told they're little follicular cysts. Very rarely, they'll come to little crusted head and we can pull the head out and they sometimes will go away. Most often though, they just keep growing (and never crust over) and eventually we have to have them taken off...these little bumps are such a pain bc when dogs start getting them, they then get them the rest of their lives. |

As Ann indicated, some bumps need to be checked out and removed. |

Either that, or it's frog anti-venom for Peanutster. :p |
I have a dumb question -- dogs don't have skin pores like we do, do they? Or is it that they just don't sweat through the pores like we do? If they don't have pores, how do they get blackheads and pimples? |

Ya I was, the vet just said it should go away on its own. He said there was no need for meds or anything like that. It doesn't seem to be able to pop or anything. It is just getting smaller and smaller as the days go by. |
Thank you so much ladies . . ! :) Quote:
Vet says not much you can do about them ether. Quote:

Hmm than how do they get clogged pores which than creates these nasty bumps? Very confusing . . . |

Hey Deanna, I saw you'd posted about Peanut having some sort of pimples/skin issues so I thought I'd do a little digging on the net. I'd forgotten to show you the articles until I saw this thread pop back up. Now, you know what they say...sometimes TOO much info is a bad thing but I found the topic interesting enough to have a look around at different articles out there! This first is about common skin ailments (Seborrhea in particular): Dog Seborrhea: Breeds, Symptoms, and Treatments Here's one that discusses acne in a pup: Canine acne: Causes and treatments in dogs - by Patrice Campbell - Helium This one may sound scary at first glance but contains interesting explanations concerning a dog's skin: Warning Signs | Cancer | Fetch-a-Cure I'm really glad Peanut is feeling better! |
Really glad Peanut's bump is better!! |
Glad that peanut's bump is feeling better. Hope you feel better also |
