| 12 baby teeth extracted! Poor Cupcake! He went to the vet to be neutered today and they also had to extract 12 puppy teeth. His adult teeth came in but most of his puppy teeth did not fall out. I don't know how they didn't fall out as much as he likes to chew. He had 2 rows of teeth! Poor baby is so sore. He is home now and sleeping in his puppy pin. Has anyone else had to have their puppy have so many teeth extracted? Just wondering if this is normal and what to expect. Thanks.

| Poor little shark mouth! My Tibbe had several retained baby teeth - ?6? - he had to have pulled and 3 or 4 permanent teeth when he had his first dental about age 9 1/2 - 10 mos. I'd only gotten him a couple weeks before and he'd been on very bad food the vet said and never ever had as much as a single toothbrushing I guess as he spent his first 9 mos. outside at a breeders in a cage under a shed with apparently very little care. I felt so sorry for him but once we got his teeth cleaned and we worked into desensitizing him into getting his teeth brushed, he never did have to have teeth pulled again. I hope your little one is going to heal up quickly and has good dental health from now on, thanks to mommie's efforts at brushing and regular dental check-ups for this little one.

| Callie only had to have 4 teeth pulled I believe but I think there was a member who said there had 14. If the end though after a couple of days I'm sure it will feel much better then two rows of teeth.

| So glad that you posted this because I'm noticing that my 7 mo. old has 2 sets in front. I've been wondering if this is normal and also looking in her mouth daily to see if they have come out. I found 2 on my floor about a month ago and was sure that they belonged to her. I see a vet visit around the corner. Your poor baby!!! Hope it has a speedy recovery.

| Oh wow! That's the most I've seen. Or Verbena's Galen...can't remember, but he had a lot too. OP - how much does your pup weigh? I ask because it seems that the smaller Yorkies have to have more teeth pulled. Just a personal observation. It is normal for them to retain puppy teeth though. Mandie only had her 2 top canines. Praying for a speedy recovery!

| Cupcake is 5.6 pounds. It didn't take him long to feel better. Once the effects of the anesthesia wore off he was ready for action. I have been keeping him confined to the kitchen. I don't want his stiches to get pulled from being neutered. He's not happy because he is a wild child and loves to run. He is liking the soft food but I don't want him to get spoiled on it.
