Wow poor Sophie. Poor you. You stayed calm. For me big lick factor and everyone would get wormed,1 dog, 4 cats and the DBF ;)

You do know that people can get tapeworms too???it would take a lot, but the idea of worms in me is just ugh!!!!!

Well, we have made it to Stillwater, MN and Sophie won't eat or drink. Since it is Sunday afternoon, I have googled vets in the area and located a clinic nearby that treats small animals. I have sent the an email they will have it on Monday morning. I have requested treatment for both dogs. I'll let you know what happens. Wish me luck!!

Wow, hopefully Sophie will drink water soon! If you think she is becoming dehydrated, you may want to take her to a 24 hour emergency clinic in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Good luck, and keep us posted on what happens!

Yes, I was thinking about that. She did just eat some dinner and got a drink so I think we're ok for now. Thanks!

I'm glad she's eating and drinking! She was probably just exhausted from the trip and a little disoriented by her new surroundings.

In the future you can give her dichotomous earth and it will not/ cannot hurt your dog but will kill any parasites that get inside!!!!!

Geesh Diane and poor Sophie. All that talk about fleas, rice grain-like segments and things crawling our of dog butts is grossing me out. Ewe !

I don't think worms are quite worthy of an emergency vet visit but I don't think I would put off getting her seen by a vet in the area. So I'm glad that you are taking care of it and getting her checked out. Getting her on meds will no doubt put your mind at ease.

She ended up having her dogs dewormed while she was still on vacation--she posted an update in another thread. The dogs got through it great!
