YT 500 Club Member | Stella & Chewy's Anybody have experience with Stella & Chewy's. I am trying to put some weight on Sophie. I just want to add something to her regular kibble. She is currently eating Halo Puppy, but I don't think she eats enough of it each day.

| I would be careful because I was told by the vet that puppies systems are not able to handle raw.

| Zoey was on frozen raw for several years with no problems. I switched her to stella&chewys and in three weeks she had pancreatitis and cost $900.00 for one day at vets. It is really high in fat.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Stella and Chewy's is a nice brand. I feed raw, but I mostly use Primal. You could also get freeze dried raw and crumble it on her food. Freeze dried is more expensive, but if you're only using it as a topper, it won't be too bad.

| Do you feed Primal exclusively? Do you use the freeze dried or frozen? I have a sample of the freeze dried and I have been wanting to try it. I am a little concerned it might be too high in protein for him, since he has MVD.

With MVD, I'd prob want to run it by a nutritionist if it were me. Are you thinking of using it as a topper?

| Yes, I would just use it as a topper or possibly in a meal a couple of times a week, to add some variety. I'd like to vary his diet a little bit, but probably wouldn't be too willing to completely change since we have had such great success with The Honest Kitchen. He was so sick for the first two years of his life, but THK literally cured him! I also agree talking to a nutritionist is probably best...as long as I could find one that wasn't anti-raw.

| I couldn't get my Zoe to eat anything, I tried so many different kinds of kibble it wasn't even funny. The vet recommended a canned food SDO I tired that, she turned her one up. She flat out refused to eat. Someone recommended Stella and Chewies and it has been that now for the past year. My Zoe loves it and eats her food in about 3 minutes flat. I do the freeze dried, she won't eat the frozen. I used to be able to hear her tummy gurgle and make noises, but after I switched to S&C that has stopped. Soon she was putting on weight and I have now reduced how much she gets to maintain a good weight, but I have nothing to say but good for this food. |
