I've also read that some dogs eating chicken jerky will not eat their regular food. Somehow they get addicted to the chicken jerky, perhaps something in there that's addicting...So the owner continues to feed the chicken jerky & they can also get sick from lacking vital vitamins & nutrition from not eating their regular food (unbalanced diet). IDk if VitaLife (which is made in Thailand) made that dog sick & ultimately cause his death, but they made an official response that VitaLife chicken jerkies were tested & approved safe. http://www.pacificpet.net/files%5Cvitalife.pdf |
100 brands of Usa food doesn't mean they were made in the USA either. I know nothing about Weruva + or - just I like facts |

I stick to USA and Canada companies except for Weruva and Tiki Dog. They just look and smell better than any other canned foods, and I researched enough to feel confidant that they are safe. |

I would also like to make their food myself, but I don't even cook for myself, I'm lazy! If we had a farmer's market near by, I would probably cook for them once in awhile...but the whole unbalaced diet thing also scares me. If I was to home cook for them bc of a need for a special diet, I will def have a consult w/a vet nutritionist. For now, my guys enjoy a variety of foods, kibble, raw, dehydrated food & sometimes salmon & chicken if I happen to have it. |

When I buy treats I look for one ingredient treats like dehydrated meat treats or treats that are made by a small all natural company. I prefer to buy from companies that use meat sources that have been grass fed with no injections. When meat is dehydrated in any way, even by baking, it concentrates things like antibiotics, steroids, and hormones, so it is best to use meats that are free of all that. In general though the safest thing to do is make your own. It's no different than if you were making something for your family. The ingredients are a bid different is all. The heath and diet area here on YT has a sticky with a lot of recipes that members have posted. You can sort through them for something that sounds right to you. It is a good idea not to buy things from China and places like it but the US is also guilty of making a lot of trash food for pets and many of the human foods are becoming very suspect as well. |
