I appreciate you being "overcautious!" I did wake him up and took him down to go potty. I gave him a little greek yogurt with water as a small snack. he ate, drank, that very quickly. He is still a little groggy, and walks with his tail down. His eyes look a lot brighter, though. He's back in bed, and I just covered him with a light blanket. Thank you so mich for your advice!:) | I didn't stress this before... but do get some food into him as I'm sure he was fasted before his procedure, especially some type of protein... chicken baby food, chicken, along with carbs. Nutrical along with a protein if you have it on hand is good to use after a surgery... got to get all his levels back up ( if no Nutrical, you can use pancake syrup, about 1/4- 1/2 teaspoon).
I usually give them about 1/4 of a regular meal 3-4 times, every 30-60 minutes with some water (not free access to the entire bowl, lol) about 1/4- 1/3 cup with the partial meal so they don't get sick (may vomit from too much on an empty tummy). After the 4th feeding, I give free access but I watch to make sure they don't overdo on the water. If they're still that thirsty, I give a little bit at a time until they are satisfied.
Once they start acting like themselves (awake and 'there'), then I let them sleep for longer periods. |
