Breeder blames dog food... |
OMG, that is so sad! I hope it was not the food as there are a lot of people that feed Royal Canine! :( |
This is so sad :( |
A greeder, byber blaming the food...breeding to breed....I am skeptical here, will do more research on this breeder and will properly inform this news station of their gross amount of unethical information starting with "Designer" perhaps some of you can inform them too? Every little bit helps...to educate the news people is very important, seize the opportunity if you have a few minutes...thanks. |
Wow that's amazing two vets would back that nonsense. Wonder if they are the same vets signing the papers to ship those designer pups up to pet stores. I am wondering how the vets know that the alleged "inadequate" nutrition was due to the food--perhaps the breeder wasn't feeding them enough food. LOL. I know a bunch of breeders who breed RC both here and a couple in France and they are not having milk problems with their mothers. RC is a great food. |

Considering how many pups manage to survive coming out of puppy mills, this story seems highly unlikely. I like the line about switching to the "less expensive RC." Isn't RC one of the most expensive kibbles? |
Royal Canine Scary!!! This is what I feed. |

OMG!!!! You can BET I am on the phone with RC immediately!!! I have the CEOs direct phone number....got that when the first dog food recalls happened several years ago, and all I could get from the company was a "canned response" they were releasing to all news media...I went balistic and raised enough commotion, that man called me....and gave me his number if I ever had any more questions regarding the product......I have a momma due to deliver first week of May....she is on the special RC diet for pregnant and lactating bitches....let me stop, catch my breath, and call this man............... |
My phone call was the first he had heard of it....VERY concerned....is investigating and will get back to me today..... |
Royal Canin Thank you Yorkiemom1 and Ladyjane. I will be watching and listening for more about this food.. |

I hope that, if it is, RC sues his pants off. |

At first, after re-reading the article, he said the puppiues died after he switched to a less expensive brand of RC....which led me to believe he may have taken his mommas off the special HT 42d diet for pregnant and lactating bitches....but then, before they ever came out with this special diet for the pregnant females we all fed the puppy formula to the mommas and never had this issue.....so there is something else going on here....mommas milk has become toxic, I think...like if they develop mastitis and get very infected, the milk is no good and you have to pull puppies off and hand feed....if they drink that milk it will kill them........it is going to be very interesting to see where this ends up...... |
58 puppies??? Sounds like a puppy mill to me. What a way for this greeder to make money...sue a well known company like Royal Canin. Maggie and Bogey have been eating RC from the very beginning so I'm hoping this is bogus. I know I can count on YT members to keep us informed about this :) |
It couldn't be that hes a bad breeder and not doing something right........ |

Fifty-eight puppies died in a six-week period? It says: Quote:

They are accusing the RC for being "nutritionally lacking" which caused the mommas to produce milk that was nutritionally incomplete, and unable to provide the requirements needed for the babies to survive because no antibodies were passed to the babies from the colostrum in the milk...mommas did not produce colostrum, they contend, because of the RC. I am still waiting for RC to call me back...he is checking with news outlet that had the story, as well as their (RC's) own vets, etc....soon as I get anything back from him, I will pass it on. I do not think the statement that bacterial septicemia is related to no colostrum, is an accurate statement. I almost lost a litter from that because I started weaning onto raw, and those babies had plenty colostrum when they were born. |
I don't know enough to even comment about what happened but hard to believe this gr...breeder who seems to imply that this is all RC's fault and not his for changing food or who knows what. One of the two times I bred dogs years ago, my beautiful best friend Doberman bitch died from her "milk going bad" or similar terms used by the vet and mentor. But we were using only the food and vitamins etc that our mentor/breeder and the vet prescribed. They all said "this just happens sometimes"(?). Never again for us....no more breeding dogs. Poor, poor "designer" dogs. |
Just my not worth too much two cents opinion...if you really suspected a product of killing THOUSANDS of dollars of puppies, wouldn't you (or your attorney) immediately call the company??? I guess I find it kind of hoakie that you would find many deaths in just one area vs a lot of deaths over many breeders if its a product at fault. Please keep us informed...this will be interesting |
"Fifty-eight puppies died in a six-week period." That's all I need to read right there. |

something smells fishy in denmark |
Haven't heard any updates, yet. |
I updated after my conversation with RC...it is under Carmen's original thread about this topic.... |
Actually this is the original thread. :) But for those who don't know where the other one is: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...py-deaths.html Not that I think discussing either of these breeder's complaints is newsworthy. I don't buy what they are saying about RC foods. |
