Canine Caviar vs Fromm I will be bring my new buddy home soon. Anyone care to discuss the Canine Caviar vs Fromm. They both seem like good quality foods. Anyone prefer one over the other? I am leaning toward the Fromm which I can get locally. Karen |
We use Fromm and it has done well for us. Shelby (who is one to get on the chubby side) has been able to maintain a nice weight on the grain free Fromm. Seymour, who has a very sensitive stomach, does well on the Fromm chicken ala veg, which is not grain free. I don't think it as rich as grain free flavors. Seeger loves it, too...... he has not gotten too heavy although he licks his bowl clean at every meal! ;) You may want to see if you can get some samples of it from the local place that carries it......... I don't think that Fromm has any puppy food in a small breed size kibble, so that is something else to consider. Although Seeger has done well on it (Small breed kibble) since he was 16 weeks old with no health issues or allergies. Good Luck! :D |
We haven't tried Canine Caviar simply because it's not available locally. We however are huge Fromm fans! Toki has done well on all of the grain-free varieties and also on the couple of regular ones from Four Star line that she's tried. Fromm is very affordable and the kibbles are generally pretty small. I'd get a few sample bags of the Fromm from your store! |
My boys loved Fromm and they love CC. I think they like the CC more but I would have no problems with Fromm Grain Free. I have to order both online because they are not available near me. Mickey has however stopped eating his poo since we changed to CC. Maybe one of the herbs they use... I don't know. But glad he stopped :) |
Canine Caviar My baby has been on Canine Caviar   since shortly after I brought her home.... almost three years ago. Never had any issues... which her Vet attributes to the food. I did some research yesterday and found this thread. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...ths-later.html |
I have also been feeding Canine Caviar as it received several good reviews from others on this site. I'm not saying that other foods didn't get good reviews it's just that I felt the CC would serve us better. I cannot purchase it locally or in larger towns so I order it but Sophie loves it and is thriving. |
It is nice to be able to get your food locally. Fromm is a good food. The only one we ever had trouble with is the salmon one. We had trouble with the Fromm salmon and also the Horizon salmon foods, so I guess someone is allergic to large quantities of salmon? The other foods they eat have some salmon in them but it's further down the ingredients list. I would have no problem feeding Fromm. I would stick to either the grain free formulas or the 4-star formulas though. BTW, our dogs LOVE the duck formula! I actually rotate between Horizon (Legacy or Amicus) and Fromm. |
We never tried Fromm, but it's an excellent family owned company that's never had a recall! We never tried it, bc 2 of mine are on the sensitive tummy side & I like to stick w/1 protein source. They enjoy Canine Caviar Wilderness (they loved Open Sky too) for dinner & they get weruva/the honest kitchen mashup for breakfast. So far, very good! |
It is actually cheaper for us to order CC or Fromm online from Chewy.com Thank to buy it locally. Go figure! LOL |
thanks for the chewy.com tip! |

I get the canned CC turkey or food for our cat or toy or treats or something... LOL They sell Fromm there too. And a lot of other good foods. I am really loving the Max & Ruffy Mini Bites Treats. They are all natural and only 2 cal each with about 200+ per bag. Grain free. My guys got nuts for them and they smell so good I want to eat them! I have the Banana & the Molasses ones right now. YUM! |
Canine Caviar Hi!! I LOVE FROMM as a company. It just did not agree with Riley. He was eating the chicken a la veg and the pork & applesauce and he had pretty bad reactions to the grains in them... I haven't tried the Grain Free FROMM but I know a lot of people on here feed it and Love it. I have been feeding the grain free Canine Caviar for about 7 1/2 months now. Riley absoutely Loves it and that makes me Happy!! I feed each formula for just short of 3 months to make sure they agreed with him, and right now, I am switching formulas daily between the Wilderness, Open Sky and Wild Ocean. I bought a bunch of the 1lb bags at a store near me. I always do the same formula for breakfast and dinner, but every day has been a different formula! I also bought several of the cans and I mix about a teaspoon of wet canned into his kibble. I also bought a bag of the Synergy and put about a teaspoon of that... He goes Nuts for his meals!! :D |
I am thinking of getting the Canine Caviar kibble to feed mine with the Weruva canned. Are the kibble sizes small enough for my Pixie. She has a tiny mouth and has trouble with larger kibble? Thanks |
