| teeth brushing ok HI gals/guys i have a question about teeth brushing. How often do you brush or have your vet clean your yorkies teeth? Is there ways you can brush them yourself? I was thinking if i can brush their teeth everyday as we do then we wont have build up or stinky breath. My yorkies are a tad bit over a year old should i have had them cleaned once already by the vet. I do know that they sell dog tooth paste at some pet stores but does it really work or is it just a waste of money in the long run? |

| Not a brush... I tried a brush on Wosie, and my goodness!! You would have thought I was trying to kill the poor girl!! So on I came to my old pal YT, and found some other things to do the deed. I use Premier Pet Natural Dental Wipes (petsmart) to remove any tarter there my be. She doesn't mind them. They are kind of little wet wipes with dental floss running through them. They are minty flavored, and she likes to bite them very much. The other thing I use is Wysong Dentatreat.(Petco online) I sprinkle it on her food every meal, and her teeth are nice, what little she has remaining. She is teething and looks like a 6 year old human! All she wants for Christmas is her two front teeth!! LOLOL Good luck!

| Jaspers mom thanks for the ideas...Kelsey hasn't had her teeth cleaned yet and she's a 1 year old. I've tried several times but she wont let me. I've succeded about 2x's. She eats a lot of dry food and munches on bones though..so I dont see any tarter build up. I am thinking of taking her to the vet to get it done. How much do they charge and what do they do?

| I brush both Alfie and Lottie's teeth with baby toothbrushes and clear dog toothpaste not meat based stuff the paste I use has chlorhexdine in it which inhibits plaque build up. They are both used to it and when I bring out the brushes they both run out to get their teeth brushed as you can see from the photo. |

| I use Dentacare by a company called Bob Martin it may be a UK make so dont know if you can get it in America there is a web site on the box www.bobmartin.co.uk . I have the box out typing this and Alfie is going mad trying to get at it so he must like it The ingredients are all fine with no sugars or sweetners in or foaming agents so it does not foam |

| My baby hates to get his teeth brushed. I currently use a mint flavor. I am going to have to find another flavor.
