Chronic Renal Failure...AGAIN I haven't posted in YT in a very long time. As a matter-of-fact, I actually canceled my membership. Many of you will remember that I lost my sweet Sydney to chronic renal failure, February 28th, of 2011. It was just too painful to come in and read about Yorkies, look at pictures, etc. She was 14 years, 10 months, and 11 days old. She was my "Heart & Soul". We began having our younger Yorkie, Kia tested, a week after we lost Sydney. On July 15th, Kia was diagnosed, as being in early renal failure. She is 13 years and 8 months old. I just can't believe we are going through this disease, again. :( She is eating a homemade renal failure diet, that Hill's provides to Vet's whose patients will not eat Hill's canned k/d. Most days, she eats well, but then she has days that she is very finicky. She is due to be re-tested in 2 weeks. I'm praying her BUN & Creatinine levels have dropped. Sheila |

Renal failure Dear Sheila, How I feel for you having lost your dear Sydney last year, and now facing the same terrible disease yet again with little Kia. Having lost a baby to renal failure, I fully understand what you all went through. We pray that Kia responds to treatment and does well and that she is with you for a long time. You are a great Mom and I am sure Kia will thrive under your tender care, but I can see how déjà vu is tearing you apart. But she is in the early stages of the disease and now can be treated with a good chance of success, unlike when the disease has progressed to the end stages. So take heart, as your caring and love will ensure a more positive outcome. Praying for you and thinking of you. |
I'm so very sorry to hear this news. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers... |

I am so sorry you are going through this again. What are the symptoms of Renal Failure. I am a worry-wart when it comes to my babies. Daisy is 9 yrs old now and I try to notice changes as soon as I can. Thanks |
Renal Failure Blood and urine tests to catch early. Symptoms hard to define in early stage, which is when you need to diagnose and treat it. If you are concerned please see the vet. |

My best advice, is to have BUN & Creatinine levels checked on your sweet Daisy, annually. We began checking Kia, a week after we lost Sydney. |

I feel, after losing Sydney, so quickly....that our Vets need to begin running the blood panels, esp. BUN & Creatinine, when our Yorkies are Seniors. |
I am so sorry you are going through this again. I have been through it 2 times. I will certainly say prayers for Kia. |
