Canine Caviar
 

OK, so one of my friends was RAVING about this brand of dog food today, and it got me very interested. So I did a little research and, honestly, I'm quite impressed with what I've read so far. I think I'll order a bag of it, but before I do... Does anyone here use this food? If so what particular flavor (I guess thats what you call it) do you use?

RileyDC RAVES about this food! I bought a bag of the Puppy Chicken & Millet when I was searching for an alternative to Acana (my Yoshi was allergic to the new formula). One of my pups will eat it. The other one won't. I think Riley eats the one with fish in it & he goes bananas over it to the point of screaming :p Haha...can you imagine how cute that would be? I have no idea why but my pups, neither one, will eat it either, of course though its not the only food they won't eat. I finally got them on Blue but they don't exactly wag their tails at meal time...I don't know the answer, I wish someone could come up with a healthy food that they will find delicious at the same time...oh well I think its worth a try, good luck and let us know.

Jackson just liked it okay. He definitely wasn't rushing to the bowl or anything. I thought the duck one smelled, lol... (to my nose). Jax had a lot more poop on it. We did not feed it long tho- I wasn't impressed because he does just as well on other kibbles, actually better, for a lot cheaper price (I found CC to be really $$$).

I think the company is awesome :thumbup: ... I love the idea behind it, everything. But it wasn't the choice for us.

I know each pup is different but this is my review on how Great Riley has
done on Canine Caviar...
I started feeding Riley Canine Caviar on Aug. 2nd....
Just short of a month ago and I couldn't be Happier!!
He was shrieking for his dindin just Tonight! I Really should get video of it...

I had switched him from Acana to TOTW just to add it into his rotation...
He did Great on TOTW but once the recall hit I want nothing to do with Diamond so
we switched to FROMM.... it wasn't Grain Free and he had a bad reaction to
the grains in the Fromm, which resulted in a vet visit... We switched back
to Acana but they had a formula change and he wasnt doing so well on it...
Ordered and tried Canine Caviar and I really think we have a winner!!!!
He has very little eye gunk... Poops once in the morning and once in the
Evening... and best of all he eats it all as soon as I put it down...with
Nothing else added into it. I would sometimes have to hand feed him
the Acana...
I have three bags of raw in the freezer but haven't given him anything
But the CC since Aug 2nd.... I wanted to get a True feel of how he does
with the CC.
It has taken me 2 years to find something he and I are Happy With...
I don't think the price is bad at all for as well as he is doing...

I've tried Blue, and they liked it, but my Bichon was allergic to some of their ingredients so we had to stop. I'll definitely keep you guys informed.

I think this is worth a shot. Because my other dog is allergic to grains as like Riley is. So I was pleased to see they has a grain free section. And did you say less eye boogers??? Thats the kind of thing I like to hear, it's definitely worth a try.

It is actually Cheaper than I was paying for Acana, in my area.
I found a place in my area that sells the 4.4lb bag of the Wild Ocean
for $15.99 but like I said, I would pay just about anything since he
is doing Sooo Well on it...

I just might need to try CC. I hate that the current kibble I'm feeding has 'natural flavors' in it...looks like CC has very simple ingredients & I want grain & potato free. I'm not 100% comfortable w/the garlic, but it's pretty far down the list. Mine are losing too much weight on the Honest Kitchen, so I need to feed a good kibble for 1 meal mixed w/premade raw.

Just don't get their canned food as it has carrageenan. Carrageenan Just Don't Do It

I think I'm willing to pay the price. I've read through the ingredients and I've read reviews. I think the price will be well worth it. I just hope the furbutts like it. Cause they can get a little picky at times :rolleyes:

Thanks for that! We can't do grains over here either one of mine is allergic. But, if you do decide to try it out. Let us know how it goes. :)

Just picked up a bag of Canine Caviar Open Sky today. The kibble is really tiny & they like it.

Thats good. Teresa (RileyDC) sent me a sample bag, and mine liked it at first... but lost interest after a week. :( So I guess we have to keep looking.

oh no=/ that's tough...have you tried crumbling some freeze dried raw or anything on top?
Mimi is the picky one here, she just took a sniff & turned her nose up on it loll. She gets THK for breakfast & premade NV raw for dinner, so she's off kibble for now.

I've tried adding bits of chicken, and sprinkling broth over it... but neither one of mine were having it. They'd eat the chicken and leave the kibble. Or they'd lick the broth off of the kibble and walk away.

Lol, they are VERY frustrating. But, I just foud out that we have a new pet store (petsense) coming to our town, and they carry a frand called AvoDerm. From what I've read so far its a pretty good brand. So I guess we'll be trying this next. :xfingers: Fingers crossed.

I also got a sample from my sweet friend Theresa, Sheldon is a very picky eater and it took him about a week to finally eat the kibble.
He went 4 to 5 days eating less than 1/4 cup but I put my foot down and decided to keep on trying. I took away treats also, had to hide them from my husband and kids to avoid any mistakes.
See, Sheldon would eat something and then he would stop liking it and I would add something to the kibble, change the food, sprinkle veggies, etc.
Is not his fault he got picky, I am fully responsible for making him that way lol so this time he was probably thinking, yeah, my mom is going to give me something else if I don't eat...errrrrrr...WRONG! Hahahahahha

He has been eating 1/2 cup a day for the last couple of days. Good luck!

Riley tried the grain free CC "Open Sky" tonight and I don't know what is in this stuff that
he likes so much but he gobbled it down immediately PLAIN!!

I'll be out in Virginia on Sunday where they sell it so I'm going to
buy a bag of the wild ocean and a bag of the open sky!! :thumbup:

Awesome! Is the kibble the same size as the old one? Just curious about it since I saw someone posted on their Facebook page about the kibble being bigger or something like that.

The kibble was about the same size... maybe even a teeny weeny bit smaller...
Yeah Deanna and I both posted on their FB page.... I think the new kibble is a teeny weeny bit bigger, but Still Smaller than the Acana kibble...

Doesn't Avoderm have a recall right now? I know that Petco sells Avoderm (maybe Petsmart does too?). I would definitely choose something else over Avoderm. Maybe someone else on here feeds it and can give a different perspective.

Yes, it does! Another member told me a few days ago, and I opted not to go with it... A different YT member (mimimomo) was kind enough to send me some different samples and my two are head over heals in love with the Pulsar fish formula, and Stella & Chewy's freeze dried dinners... I think we've found our food :)

Oh man! All of this Canine Caviar talk has got me interested in it too! Lol...I'm glad this food is working out for so many of you!

They only sell the Huge 12lb bags on Mr Chewy's...
CC says you can refrigerate their food up to 6-months....?!

I ordered the big 12lb bag and started giving it away so that it
wouldn't go stale... it would take Riley Forever to eat it... LOL!!
I found 3 places in VA that sell the smaller bags... so I am going
to go get some, this weekend.

Wow! That is a lot! Even for my 2 boys it would be too much.
I'll have to go and look at the store I have near me. I think I saw it there. Might try it in the boys rotation!
