| ![]() I believe it just happens. Our vet told us that yorkies and other toy breeds are more susceptible because their mouths are so small. It doesn't mean you're a bad mommy!

| ![]() Thanks everyone for your thoughts and kind words! The vet told me that I'm doing everything right-hand tucker may just have bad teeth. He lost several teeth during the cleaning in addition to the one they pulled. He has almost no front teeth now. They did tell me to feed him a larger kibble instead of the small breed. She said he will have to chew the larger pieces and that may help. I still felt a little guilty, but y'all have reassured me ![]() He is kinda cute now... Sticking out his tongue over and over... Thanks again! |

| ![]() Feeding them dry food (if they'll eat it), giving them lots of chew bones, and brushing their teeth often is all you can do to prevent dental issues. Yorkies are very susceptible to dental issues compared to most other breeds, so sometimes it just can't be helped. I know it's sad, but just keep up the good dental care! Imagine how many teeth your puppy would have to have pulled if you weren't so vigilant about his dental care already! |

| ![]() Jada had a dental when she had a tumor removed back in April...poor baby lost 3 teeth and I brush and do good oral care on her. Our vet said she has such a tiny mouth that it is hard to brush really well on all of her teeth. They had a hard time when she was under anesthesia getting the very back teeth. You little guy will do fine and adjust to the loss of teeth. Don't beat yourself up..there is most likely nothing you could have done to prevent it..and you are getting annual dentals done which is great.

| ![]() Small dogs are prone to poor dental health. Feeding kibble vs. Soft food does not really overall improve dental heath but brushing with does ![]() I think genetics also plays a big part. If mommy and/or daddy have bad teeth so will baby.

| ![]() RV214. It's nothing you did. I cried and cried when Bella and Tia had their dentals done a few months back. Between them they pulled 20 teeth. I was working, when the vet called to tell us how it went etc. and when I got home and my husband told me I thought he was messing with me. Bella is 9 and Tia is 7 and they've had dentals done, fed properly etc. When I went to pick them up I was hysterical and the vet told me it was nothing I did that they are notorious for bad teeth. We had our Newman and he was 10 when he passed, and his teeth were perfect, only lost one to due breaking it on a bone and he did not come from a good place. Go figure. I know what you're going through believe me. None of us want to see our babies hurting. |

| ![]() Thank you for your encouragement! It's good to know that others have heard the same thing from their vets, too. He is currently taking Antirobe 75mg every 12 hrs for 10 days. Has anyone used this before? |
