Do you feed Acana Pacifica ? i am currently feeding oscar fromm but the kibble is miniscule and he has had several choking episodes that scared the life out of me so i am looking for a bigger kibble that he will chew. i am interested in acana pacifica. if you feed this could you possibly post a pic of the kibble so i can see what it looks like..... thanks so much |
I'm considering Acana for Tibbe when & if he gets off Hill's GI I/D. Sure am sorry a sweetie like Oscar is choking on his food!!! What size dog is Oscar? How can he choke on small bits of food? Please explain what happens as I had thought the smaller the bite the better B4 reading your post. Now I can tell I need to know more. Is it so small he kind of inhales it into his pharynx due to its light weight & size or what? |

I wouldn't thought of that one. It will be interesting to see what others have to say. Louise |

the problem is he wolfs his food down. i do think it is due to inhaling the tiny pieces that makes him choke. he will chew bigger kibble and has no problem. he only started doing this when i started him on the fromm |
This is what Zhoie eats and I must say she loves it, but the kibble is very tiny, about the size and shape of a pencil eraser. It's perfect for her, not sure how bigger mouths would do though. Sorry, I'm on my work laptop, so I can't post a picture right now. Let me know if you still need a pic and I can do it later on for you:) |
IMO, The Ranchland, & Pacifica, are pretty big for Peanut- I just had him on the Ranchland and I would cut it in 1/2 for him  It is not that he "couldnt" chew it I was just worried about him choking, like Oscar sometimes he doesnt chew- However the Duck and Pear Acana is WAY SMALLER, I wont even have to cut in half!! :D |
Fromm is TINY (most of them anyways). Jackson did not even know what to do w/ it. But I know of larger breeders who seem to eat it just fine so I guess it's all preference. But Jackson prefers larger kibble - like the size of grain-free Acana. We fed Pacifica for one bag but couldn't stand the fishy smell. But he loved it  Acana lamb & apple and duck & pear are def. smaller tho, but they are still bigger than Fromm IMO. |

Riley eats Acana Pacifica and is Thriving.....as he always does on Acana. He is between 8 & 9 pounds and the kibble is perfect for him. When he was a puppy I had to cut it for him..... |

If you would be getting the Acana locally, ask them for a sample. Hollywood feed carries it by us and they sell sample bags for just under $4. |
Sorry...I misread the post, Zhoie is eating Fromm Pacifica, not Acana. We did try Acana, but she just wasn't fond of it and I did have to snap the kibble in half for her. Not with the Fromm though, they are tiny little kibbles, about the size of a pencil eraser. :) |
