amount of $ spent on a spay, and dental ? I just recieved a call from one of the vet techs about a price estimate regarding Suzi's spay, pre bloodwork, pain meds , denetal cleaning, and a possible tooth extrattion and more pain meds sent home. The whole thing will cost me between $300-400 dollars. Can any others tell me how much your total costs were if you have been through this ? Is this the ball part amount spent for having your dog go through the surgery? |

I know there're places that will do it cheaper, but I was really happy with the care that she received at her vet, their communication with me throughout the day of her spay, and she recovered very quickly and has no scaring...you can't even tell she was spayed to look at her belly! |
I think that is a pretty good price. A spay here is $230 and that includes blood work, pain medicine and laser therapy, this is actually the cheapest price as I checked all the vet clinics in the area. It cost me around $300 for just a dental and tooth extractions. I was told it would be about $400 for a spay and extracting 4 baby teeth, a dental would be much higher. I would be very happy with a spay, dental and tooth extraction if needed for $300-400, that would be a bargain. |
Riley was neutered Nov. 12, 2010, here in the city and at that time, this was the cost: $300.00 = Neuter/25lbs and less, including pre-op blood work $ 17.99 = Rimadyl Injectable $ 13.79 = Rimadyl 25 mg (3 pills) Vet said to give 1/4 morning & night $ 65.00 = Microchip & Registration [OUCH!!] $ 12.25 = E-Collar $409.03 = TOTAL |

RileyDC's post made me realize I lied in my post...as our cost also included being microchipped....my bad! |
Dental plus blood panel, and extraction of 4 baby teeth was $450.00....spay is $350.00.....JUMP on your price of $400.00 before they go up! |
spay with teeth extraction and meds 160 ,full blood panel 80 |
thank you for all your replies. i have not gone through this before on a small dog, only cats who were spayed. But, I want the best care for my little Suzi. The highest would be $495 but they have never charged me the highest fee. It all depends if the ned to extract the bad tooth, or pull any others. I've set aside the money for her surgery, so we are set financially for her surgery. It will be on the 11th of this month, I am confident in her vet that she will have the best care, but still very nervous, and the "what if's" cross my mind daily. so i'm trying to stay strong, especially for my son , who Suzi loves and my son is very attatched to. The vet tech told me as I was getting a proce breakdown they lost a dog during surgery, who had not recieved the preblood work, if they did the preblood work they would have known the dog was not strong enough for surgery. So I know how important this is, to spen $70 extra dollars on . Once this is done, will Suzi stop the humping behavior? even when she is not in heat she has tried to hump my legs when taking a nap, which is very annoying to say the least. Suzi is a fiesty, tough little yorkie, And I think after she starts feeling better the most difficult part is making sure she is calm and not jumping on furniture. they told me it takes only 7-10 days for things to heal , and they use the disolveable stitches on the outside, so their won't be a need to take her back to have any stitches removed. I just want to get this done and over with for the health of Suzi, but still very aprehensive, about her going through this process. I had both dogs microchipped a few months ago by our vet , they only charged $35 each. |
Wow!! I feel blessed. Our vet charges less than $100 and does not charge extra for extracting any teeth done during surgery!!! This fee also includes pain meds! |
bamawife you are a lucky one. So for the lowest quote I have received has been $300. Maybe that's why we haven't been yet for the dental and spay. :( and with Nali being only 4.5lbs i\'m very nervous about putting her to sleep if it\'s not really necessary. |
I have Hope\'s surgery scheduled for Sept and they quoted me $375 for blood work, spay, pain meds. Sounds like it\'s a pretty good deal if you are also having dental done too. Praying your little one does well. Makes me a bit nervous too! |
Jada had a non-cancerous tumor removed from her back a couple of months ago. I had her dental done at the same time since she was due for one. I think the total for everything was around $350.00..surgery, blood work, pathology for the tumor and teeth cleaning and antibiotics and pain meds. |
I agree that that sounds like a great price! Here, a spay is around $250 with bloodwork, dentals start at $200 for just a basic cleaning, no extractions. I\'ve spent upward of $800 on dentals with extractions, depending on how involved they where! |
