A concerned Mom here.. hi :) Im new here, so help me out here >< I am 17 years old, and my baby Tutti is 9 months old..and weighs 1 Kilogram.:aimeeyork over the last month i noticed that tutti wasn't really excited about her food (i give her the Eukanuba lamb and rice for puppies) so i went and bought a different food. i got the pro plan salmon and rice for sensitive stomach and skin for adults.. i mixed it with her old food to make the transformation not so harsh..AND THEN...she started throwing up,that was 1 and a half days ago...i thought it was from the new food..so i immediately switched it back to the old food. but she is still throwing up the food she barely eats because sh'e not feeling well...and she is not so Energetic as always..she is pretty sleepy. and she drinks quite alot..BUT SHE DOESN'T HAVE DIARRHEA.. please help? I'm going to the vet in about half an hour. GLAD I JOINED THE COMMUNITY :) Its nice to read what other "mommy's" here write :) |
i hope shes ok. it could be numerous things....hopefully the vet will be able to give you some answers. good luck and welcome to YT and keep us posted. |
I hope your baby will be Ok. Happy to hear you are taking her to the vet as vomiting can be a sign of a more serious illness. It is good that you are on top of the situation as left untreated vomiting will lead to dehydration & could be life threatening. Please update when you get a chance. Welcome to YT !:) |
Just came back from the vet . The vet said that it is not serious and that I should make some Chicken and rice (cook) and give it to her to eat. My vet is going abroad tomorrow night so she told me to update her tomorrow.. I hope it'll help, and she'll be better by tomorrow night :) We're not sure why is she tired and sleepy, probably because she Just doesn't feel very well. She is wagging her tail, though :) Thanks for the quick answers :) |
Do you have Nutrical at home? |
No, I don't.. I don't really know what it is haha, I forgot to mention that I'm from Israel .. Unfortunately , we don't have a lot of the products I hear a lot of the people here have.. What is it? |

also honey or karo syrup would work. just give a dab on the end of your finger if you see that she is acting sluggish or lethargic maybe it would help |

We don't have it 'over here' either - I ordered from Amazon and have always kept a tube at home. It might be worth you ordering some for future use? :) In the meantime, a dab of honey given on the end of your finger might help, just in case her blood sugar goes low whilst she's not keeping food inside her, as she's so tiny? Sounds like a plan to me! |
Thanks a lot for the advice :) I gave her a fab of honey, I hope she won't throw it up as well .. She is now vomiting only liquid, no longer food chunks.. Im cooking her some chicken and rice which is what my vet told me to do. She drinks quite a lot actually which is good I guess. Thanks for all the tips and advice :) I'll keep you updated :) |
She ate the chicken and rice and she sees better :) |
I'm glad that she seems to be better! |
Well, she started throwing up the chicken and rice. She drinks a lot, but she is not moving much.. Just wants to sleep.. I hate stomache virus!! |
You need to put a call into your vet & tell her what's going on as she may want you to hold ALL food & water for a bit but you will need to keep her blood sugar up somehow. |
It's morning now, she seems somewhat better than yesterday.. She ate more chicken and rice and hasn't thrown up..yet. I will call the vet and update her . Hope she will get better by the evening :) |
She is resting in my hands now, she ate two tablespoons of chicken and rice , and throwed up just a bit of it..she wagged her tail when she saw going down the stairs to her,, That was so cute ! :) She pooped in the morning, and luckily it's not diarrhea.. She is just kind of wick.. |
If I read the weight correctly at 1kg that is only about 2.2 lbs, you have a tiny girl. What I would do, apart from checking with my vet, is feed 1 tablespoon, see if she keeps it down and wait one to 1.5 hours and feed another tablespoon. Honey can help keep blood sugar up, as well as maple syrup. Stay away from unpasteurized honey. |
I gave her just a Dab of honey. It doesnt say on the bottle that it's unpasteurized or pasteurized... Anyway, I gave her 2 hours ago 1.5 tablespoons of chicken and rice and gladly she is not throwing up since this morning! She is just tired and sleeping right now.. She drinks quite alot which is good I guess. I'll keep you updated , thanks for the advice! I was so worried that it might be serious, but the vet said its not, so im kinda more relaxed, but still.. She is my baby :) My mom said that I'd be a good mom someday haha :) |
You can give her the chicken broth too, to drink, if she continues to throw up the chicken and rice...like "gemy" said, just give her a tablespoon of the chicken and rice and wait a couple of hours and give her another tablespoon....give it a couple of hours to "process thru" her digestive tract....if she were to continue to vomit, I would give just the chicken both...just a little at a time, so she gets nourishment of SOME kind.... Plus, the vet can give her a shot for the nausea, if that continues. |
she is not throwing up since this morning, its afternoon now..so that's good :) she is still tired and wick.. its time to eat and gain energy! |
well, it's been 2 hours since the last time she ate, i gave her another tablespoon of chicken and rice, but she is not hungry now... ill try in an hour again |
oh no, she threw up again... i called to the vet but hes way far from my house and i cant drive... should i call a different vet? some advice would help :( |
If you can't see your vet any time in the near future, get in touch with the closest one you can get to. It's definitely time to take your pup in. Is there anyone you know that could drive you? |
Personally, I would take her, to a different Vet if need be - by someone giving you a lift or getting a cab....in reality, this has been going on far too long...Good luck :) Sally + Harry x |
I went tab other vet which I'm now sure is better than my regular vet, He said its a stomach virus and that I souls feed her 1 tablespoon of chicken and rice every 2 hours. 5 hours passed and she doesn't want to eat.. But he just said that if she is throwing up tomorrow I will bring her in again. But she should be fine by tomorrow afternoon, Today she threw up only twice, while yesterday she threw up way more !! And I finally heard her barking!! And running!! That's an improvement :) |
glad to hear you are liking this vets advice better! sometimes you don't know what you are missing until you move on - kind of like a (bad) relationship :D hope your baby is feeling better really soon. keep a watch on her poopies and you'll get a good idea of how she is feeling on the inside. or she may even pass something that had been upsetting her. |

Your girl is young and still very small - and vomiting can be life threatening if it continues and she dehydrates. Even though she doesn't have diarrhea, the vomiting is extremely concerning. I'd call that vet and ask for a med, or perhaps bring her back in asap. Do you have emergency vets there for night time issues? |
Yes we do, but I'm 17 , I can't drive .. And I really can't wake up my mom in the middle of the night.. Since yesterday afternoon, she is not throwing up, let's hope it was the last time ..:) Her poop is regular, just smaller, because she is eating less.. She seems to be getting better, but she is tired, I guess because of the virus.. The vet said she is not dehydrated..and she drinks quite a lot by herself. |
Ok so she is not throwing up since yesterday afternoon! The vet gave me I/d perscribed canned food for digestive problems, and she she was Sooo happy to eat it!! she didn't want me to take the plate! I just really hope she won't throw up.. She also barked, and ran, and wagged her tail.. Not as much as always, but still,an improvement :) I'll update you by evening:) |
