Thanks for posting this .... I had no idea! |
My yorkie is now 3 months old. I have feeding him the NB Small Bites Ultra Premium Dog Food and that make me scared to feed him with NB anymore. I would like to switch to Now!. Should I choose NOW! FRESH Grain Free Small Breed Recipe or NOW! FRESH Grain Free Puppy Recipe to him? I do not know what is the different between this:( |
Natural Balance LID Sweet potato and venison is the only food that has not caused my Jada to itch or to have tummy issues:( IDK what I am going to do now..it took two years to find a food that she would eat and that wouldn't cause flare ups with her allergies. |

My 5 month old Yorkie is on Blue Buffalo Life Protection Puppy. Has anyone tried this? I was told by many people this is a very good brand. Have you heard otherwise? I'm a little nervous after reading about Natural Balance! |

Michelle, if you find out anything for Jada please let me know what you decide, ok? Dyan |
Nature's Variety has a limited ingredient formula that they came out with about six months ago, you might want to give that a shot if your pup has allergy problems. |

Some of you might remember that Levi had a little "flu" awhile back and we didn't know what it really was. I called my vet because Levi was on the Natural Balance when he got sick. Interesting coincidence, I think not this food was probably the culprit. We are feeding Now Grain Free small bites with no problems at all. No itching, no paw licking both seem to be doing very well on it. Petcuren seems like a good company. crossing fingers. |

I too have been feeding my babies NB Duck & Potato. I noticed a difference in the kibble on the last 2 bags I have purchased. They were so different in color and in smell that it made me a little nervous. I am also having a terrible time trying to get them to eat anymore. They don't want to play as much and they just act different. I thought maybe it was because they just turned a year old and aren't puppies anymore but thanks to this thread I know different now! I am so upset and hope I haven't done any permanent damage to them by feeding them this food. They have such allergies and it took me so long to get them on a food that didn't make them bite and scratch and now this. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I am about to go to the Natural Balance website and complain. But first I have to get to Hollywood Feed and get them some food. I guess I will switch them all at once, not sure what else to do, don't want to ever feed them NB again! I even took a picture of the difference in the foods and am glad I did. Thank you for posting this and good luck to everyone that is about to make the switch. I hope we all can find something that agrees with our little angels. |
Is anyone familiar with Lotus dog food? I just got a sample of the Duck grain free and the babies love it. They have small bites but they didn't have any samples of that so I just got the regular size kibble sample. It states on their site that all ingredients are from the USA and Canada and the dry food is made in Canada. They also have canned food that is actually made in California. Everything sounds good and it seems to have good ingredients. Hope the girls do well on it. Fingers crossed. |
I finally got a reply from Natural Balance.... Subject: Re: Natural Balance Hi Michelle, We appreciate your questions and thank you for contacting us. Natural Balance products are made in our own plant in Southern California as well as select co-manufacturers across the country. This includes Diamond’s South Carolina plant. Diamond has been in contact with us and has told us that Natural Balance products are not involved in their voluntary recall. The only product affected is Diamond’s Naturals Lamb Meal & Rice. Diamond Pet Foods has placed a hold on their production, because they are implementing a hold and test program as a means to improve their ability to screen for potential contaminants. Natural Balance has been doing this kind of testing since 2007. Natural Balance’s hold and test program means that once product arrives in our warehouse, we hold the product and test every lot in house for nine contaminants, which includes salmonella. No product is released for sale until all test results meet our specifications. We post all results on our website at Natural Balance Pet Foods Inc. Screening Tests. Also please review the video on that page that describes our lab and our testing. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Have a nice day! Sincerely, Heather Acuff, B.S. My dog has ibd any suggestions on a good grain free low fat food. Any does anyone know if I can feed her kibble. She was on th NBC fish and sweet potato. Still itchy and licks a lot but cleared up her poop. I would like a white potato free food too. |
Did some research I really like canine cavaliar any advice on this one for ibd dogs. I like addiction kangaroo grain free recipe but looks like it has things in it that might set off her sensitive belly. |

I posted this on another thread http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/3907869-post45.html Go! has a line for "sensitivities" and the Acana has 2 foods in a simple singles line. Fromm has a few too. My dogs are on the Acana Lamb & Apple simple single food and LOVE it. I have never seen Mickey beg so much for more food. I am very happy with this food :thumbup: They also have a Duck one I want to try. Natural Balance is no longer the only company that makes dog food for dogs with food sensitive issues. |

I have had my lil one on the Natural Balance Organic formula for the past 5 years....She loves it and we have never had an issue with it. She has been extremely regular with her potty/poop....mornings/evenings....never any problem with runny stools, excessive or smelly urine/poop.....I had been very happy with this dog food....I did just receive an email from Natural Balance on Friday, stating that they were recalling some of their food, but the organic wasn't involved.... |

Brister: How much are you feeding Jackson? |
Based on the Grasslands Chart that lists weight in pds: For 2-12 lbs dog weight Active is 1/2 - 1C Less Active 1/3 - 3/4C I use this because te kcal are not that far off (320 and 340 ish) So I feed the middle of less active and the lowest of active (1/2C day). I would feed 1/2 - 3/4C a day for 8 lbs. Adjust if needed |

1/3 in the AM and 1/3 in the PM. But he gets some wet food and treats as well. He's 16lbs. :) |
