I am trying Sophia and Peyton on the Pacific Stream and they don't like it either. :( I am thinking Sophia might have a food allergy, so I wanted to get something that didn't have chicken or grain. Hmmmm...not sure what to do. |
TOTW High Prarie and Wetlands have Chicken meal as their 3rd ingredient- so if you are looking for a non chicken (for allergy) food these won't do it. The other two- Pacific Stream and the lamb one are a good, reasonable priced choice for a grain free food. I use earthborn holistic as my back-up food. |
I have fed mine both TOTW and the Earthborn Holistic. Of the two I liked te Earthborn Holistic the best and my dogs seemed to love it. Weird, but I liked the smaller kibble too. Anyway, they did great on both but my feed store quit carrying both and only now have the cheaper brands of dog food. They say they can't sell the better quality foods....sad. So now I am feeding Blue Basic Limited Ingredients. It's not totally grain free, but the Samon and potato does not have chicken or wheat/corn and those are the ingredients I try to stay away from. My dogs seem to do well with potato where they don't the grains. |

Jackson does best on grainfree, I've found out recently. I don't think it's all grains but I'm pretty certain barley and millet gave him the itchies and he started having some hair easily falling out (no bald spots or anything extreme, but when I would give him a bath, I'd have hair on my hands, or I could easily pull some out while petting him). Since being back on Acana for close to 2 months now, it completely went away. Acana has a new line that should be out very soon, it contains one or two grains - oat, and something else... and it's a simpler formula. The new ones are Chicken and Burbank Potato, Duck and Bartlett Pear and Lamb and Apple - now being sold in the US. I'll be trying them out! Fromm also just made two new grainfrees - Grain-Free Game Bird Recipe dog food - Fromm Family Foods Grain-Free Salmon Tunalini dog food - Fromm Family Foods but their grain inclusive lines are great too - I think they just made Jackson itch. :( But as a company, I LOVE Fromm. Also, I am sure Now! and Go! would have options if you prefer the lower protein, but still wanna stay grain-free. http://www.petcurean.com/for-dogs/now-fresh/ |
Trixie eats a mixture of TOTW Wetlands and Weruva Canned....she seems to like it so far! |

Where do you buy Weruva? Can you buy just single cans?? |
Went to a local pet shop and got some more samples. I was given Prairie Chicken & Brown rice, California Natural Kangaroo & Red Lentils, and Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul. Do any of you have feedback on these? |
Well we tried the Prairie Chicken & Brown rice and it did not go over well. She ate it but had tummy issues afterward. So, I went back to the TOTW. She likes the Venison and Bison flavor. So, that is the one I got for her. Since she turned her nose up at the others. But really likes this one. I was concerned about the protein but a few have said it is ok. So we are going to see how this goes. Keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for the help! |

Losing it?? You???? Never!!! Lol! The lady at the store I purchased it from said it was great food. I had no idea about the protein thing though. No way I can switch. Even when transitioning, they picked out only the TOTW pieces! Lol |

I'm sure the TOTW High Prairie food will be just fine. Glad you found something that works for Mikki. |
