Meat alternatives instead of chicken? I gave up grains for Uni's diet to see if she would stop scratching. It seemed to work for a few weeks, but now it's back again. I thought it was the grains but no that would have been too easy huh. I am not aware of anyone sneaking her any carbs or treats with grains. So maybe it is the chicken? :( What should I try next? She likes fish but it's kind of a hassle to prep and bf hates the smell. She cannot eat lamb, that was what triggered her pancreatitis. What now? |
Jada has severe allergies to chicken. She eats Venison as her protein and does great on it. LMAO I love your avatar:D |
How about lean beef? |
Where in the heck would I get venison? What cut of beef do you think would be ok? |

Teddy had that scratching issue too...I started to give him the natural balance limited diet (so most grains are removed) fish and sweet potato formula and he is no longer itching. I've suspected a chicken allergy for a while though. I'm sorry...I'm probably not much help since you clearly cook and don't want to feed fish.. |
I guess you could go hunt down some:D seriously, I use Natural balance Sweet Potato and Venison Limited Ingredient Diet. It is the only food after trying about 4 or 5 in the last 2 years that Jada is thriving on and she doesn't itch and has good poops. Lisa says there isn't a cut of beef that compares:p |
Turkey breast? Chicken and beef are among the most common food allergens. Be very careful with any type of meat with fat marbled in it (beef, pork, lamb, probably venison, etc.). If you try beef, make sure it is very high quality and extremely lean. |

I get mine from my brother but I *have* seen it in specialty mean shops here too. Or you can get a venison and sweet potato kibble. Oh, Beef suet is just beef fat because the venison is very lean and tends to dry out without it added in. |
Ooohhh! I know what it is now! It's that webby fat stuff they use on Iron Chef all the time. I didn't know it was spelled like that. Come to think of it, there is a new fancy butcher shop that just opened in the next city. I hear they are expensive though. =/ |

Good luck with your food allergy dilemma! Could you rotate with turkey or would that be to similar to chicken? |
