| I believe the transparency comment refers to Merrick's refusal to disclose sources for some of their ingredients, place of manufacture of some of their products, and their quality control measures (or lack thereof). Merrick has also been criticized for not using their considerable resources to notify consumers of their recalls.

| Yeah. This company has concerned me for a couple years. Their products don't come into this house.

| I posted this on another thread, but this is the just another of the salmonella recalls this company has had in recent years. In June 2010, they were issued the following FDA warning letter. By the way, last week, the Merrick company could not tell me how much fat was in ANY of their treats when I asked them about this. Even though the FDA warning letter suggested they start to figure out the fat in their items 14 months ago, they haven't gotten around to it. Here is the letter -- Tejas Industries Inc. 6/1/10

| Merrick is the #1 or #2 treat producer in the country and it appears they believe they can afford not to have higher quality control standards.

| Thanks for posting this. I almost bought some Merrick's treats at Treats Unleashed today. I'm glad I didn't.

| I feed my babies Merrick's Chicken Pot Pie and I thought it's good food... I even get them Merrick's beef ears...Well, I'm glad we found Fromm and will switch completely to it once the Merrick's food are done...Are their kibbles bad too??? Now I will stay away from this brand too. So disappointing!!
