maybe i'm having a blonde moment here but am i missing something? greenies pill pockets worked wonders for us. we used them seperate as a treat and made them a "special" time treat and then started adding pills and it worked on rare occasions i have had to pill the dogs by putting it way back in the throat and rubbing neck until they swallow. |
The first 2 pills had been crushed and mixed in cream cheese and then peanut butter after it had been broken up and put into sausage, cheese hot dog etc....by the time it was crushed and put into a few more things....well you get the picture...the medicine had been scattered into several different foods. I use a little mortar and pestle and grind the pill to a powder, then mix it with a tiny bit of peanut butter and let them lick it off my finger. They get every last dab of it! They do love peanut butter. Any way that I left the pill whole, they found a way to dislodge the pill and spit it out -- so grinding it to a powder was the easy solution. I do it each month for each of their Interceptor pills. |
When giving these to my girls, I grap the cookie jar and rattle it, get all goofy in that high pitched mommy voice, and pretend like I am giving them something grand. They take the Comfortis no problem. With Clavomax, I had to wrap it in cheese, these are not flavored like the Comfortis. |
