Hello noticed the word bath above Our litters(our first at that) . We would like to know when it is suggested that we can give these babies their first bath. They are weaning and eating pretty well on their own. We have some Vermont Soap Factory puppy shampoo, and would love them to smell a little lemony. Thank you. Kirk and Mary |
We have a bloodhound, and I don't know if you know anything about them, but they get this horrible, and I mean bad, smell that comes from their ears. Our vet said to clean her ears with a solution of half vinegar and half alcohol. Since then we use the same stuff on all of our four dogs, including the yorkie. I've used stuff from pet stores but honestly I like the homemade stuff better. Just a little on a cotton ball, cut into a smaller size for the yorkie, and rub. They all really seem to like getting their ears cleaned. |
Hello everybody Hi we are Stephen and Chris, proud parents of Gigi, whom by the way is 4 mo. old today. She has been with us for 5 weeks now and we are so happy We brought her into our family. We never thought that a little creature like this would bring so much joy and happiness to our lives. She is not only good looking, she is very smart and loving. My vet told me not to use alcohol to clean Gucci's ears cause it dry the skin and makes it more prone to infections. She gave me a solution to clean her ears after every bath. Im glad you took him to the vet to get check. Hopefully is not mites or an infection. Please keep us posted. I wanted to welcome Gigi and her parents. Im glad that YT has being helpful for you. I just recently took Chewy to the vet because she cried when I cleaned her ear, so I figured she had a foxtail in it. And, btw, Don't use q tips in their ears, you could really hurt them. Use a cotton ball or a tissue and your finger. Anyway, Chewy had a foxtail, lots of dark brown gun (NOT ear mites) and too much hair around her ear. So, he pulled the hair around there, and cleaned them out. He gave me Pantanol ointment to use. Now, she hardly scratches her ears. In the past, I would use ear cleaner about once a month, but now I'm going to do it weekly or every two weeks to prevent the buildup in there. :thumbup: |

We have been using a product called Johnsons ear drops and she goes mad when we put them in scratching as though diging a hole.I am a bit worried that this stuff is hurting her because she now runs off when we pick up the box containing the drops is this normal? |
Jolene had a similar problem when I first got her...lots of brownish black stuff coming out when I cleaned her ears. Turned out to be yeast, which was treated with drops from the vet. I routinely pluck the hair inside the ear canal and clean them with a cotton pad and gimborn ear cleaner that I get at petsmart for about $4 a bottle. Lasts a while. We have had NO problems since.
