I've never heard of an animal staying overnight after a spay/neuter. My Lily had pretty major surgery and she didn't even have to stay overnight. Most vets don't even have someone that stays overnight so I'm not sure what the point would be. |
I just couldn't leave Tibbe at the vet overnight unattended. Never. |
New info from the old vet: They use Ketamine and diazepam for anesthesia. The new vet uses isoflurane. Is there anyone who can explain the difference to me? |
You definitely need to go to the vet that uses isoflurane and avoid the other vet. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-protocol.html Be sure they do the pre-surgical blood work, too. |
Princess was just spayed last week & came home shortly after. I was worried I would have to crate her, as she can be a wild thing, but she was so out of it from the meds, etc. that she was very mellow for about 5 days. her incision looks good, and i think it is more invasive for a female. I'd get the blood work done & pain meds for your peace of mind & your babies comfort. :) wishing you both the best.:heart to |
Brielle was spayed in jan at 10 mos old. I took her to a vet that has 24/7 emergency care. She did stay over night, since they are 24/7 she was not left alone. I picked her up the next day and you would not know she had surgery, I think she enjoyed all the attention. Jersey Boy was neutered around 6 mos at our regular vet and he did not stay over night, he was out of it for about 24 hours. I say go with who ever you are most comfortable with. With both of mine pre op bloodwork was done. With Brielle I printed and brought http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-protocol.html to the pre op appointment. |
